Morphological characterisation of gibbsite and alumina

Powder Technology, 2002
By combining visualisation by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), optical microscopy (OM) with aniline as an immersion liquid and semiautomated image analysis procedures, the external and internal structures of different types of gibbsite and alumina particles have been characterised.

Phosphate removal from water using lithium intercalated gibbsite

Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2007
In this study, lithium intercalated gibbsite (LIG) was investigated for its effectiveness at removing phosphate from water and the mechanisms involved. LIG was prepared through intercalating LiCl into gibbsite giving a structure of [LiAl2(OH)6]+ layers with interlayer Cl- and water. The results of batch adsorption experiments showed that the adsorption

Autoprecipitation of Gibbsite and Boehmite

2016
When thick bauxite slurry was heated up to 160°C, boehmite precipitation was observed and caused scale formation on the surface of heat exchangers in digestion step.

The removal of silicate from gibbsite

Hydrometallurgy, 1993
Abstract Desorption of silicate from the surface of gibbsite was studied under typical Bayer process conditions. Desorption of silicate declined with aging and with increasing temperature. Successive extractions increased the desorption of silicate, although desorption was more pronounced in the first extraction than in subsequent extractions.

Desorption of Nitric Acid From Boehmite and Gibbsite

The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2008
Solid-state Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), evolved gas analysis-FTIR (EGA-FTIR), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) have been used to investigate the desorption of nitric acid from boehmite and from gibbsite.
