Phosphorus and arsenic distributions in a seasonally-stratified, iron- and manganese-rich lake: microbiological and geochemical controls [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Seasonal stratification in temperate lakes greater than a few metres deep provides conditions amenable to pronounced vertical zonation of redox chemistry.

Potential of Soils Natural Sorbents for Environmental Decontamination From 137Cs

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, Volume 37, Issue 2, Page 779-789, 30 January 2026.
ABSTRACT This study addresses the existing research gap concerning the lack of integrated data on the role of in situ soil components in the long‐term fixation of 137Cs under natural, protected, and non‐agricultural conditions. The contamination of ecosystems by radioactive isotopes, particularly 137Cs, represents a considerable environmental hazard ...

Effect of gibbsite in lithomargic clay on the mechanical and physical properties of limestone calcined clay cement

open access: yesInternational Journal of Ceramic Engineering & Science
Cement, a non‐renewable yet essential commodity in the construction industry remains the most used material despite the high CO2 emissions associated with the production.

Modification of the simple mass balance equation for calculation of critical loads of acidity. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Over the last few years, the simple mass balance equation for the calculation of critical loads of acidity has been gradually modified as the underlying critical load concepts have developed and as problems with particular forms of the equation have been

Corrosion of aluminium metal in OPC- and CAC-based cement matrices

open access: yes, 2013
Corrosion of aluminium metal in ordinary Portland cement (OPC) based pastes produces hydrogen gas and expansive reaction products causing problems for the encapsulation of aluminium containing nuclear wastes.

The laser Raman identity of gibbsite pseudomorphous after crocoite from Dundas, Tasmania [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Gibbsite both invests and replaces crocoite in late supergene ores of the Dundas district, Tasmania. The laser Raman spectrum of the gibbsite shows strong, well-developed v-OH stretching bands at about 3370, 3440, 3525, 3620 cm-I, confirming its identity.

Enhancing Cyclic Performance of Lithium–Aluminum Layered Double Hydroxides Type Adsorbents via Vanadium Anions Intercalation for Li+ Extraction from Sulfate‐Type Brines

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, Volume 9, Issue 1, January 2026.
The new aluminum‐based lithium adsorbent synthesized by the one‐step co‐precipitation method has a high adsorption capacity and stability, and at the same time, inhibits the formation of gibbsite during the desorption process; it is able to reverse gibbsite during the adsorption phase to ensure structural stability.

Carbon‐mixed aluminum hydroxide catalyst for the hydrogen generation of aluminum–water reaction

open access: yesJournal of the Chinese Chemical Society, Volume 73, Issue 1, Page 105-117, January 2026.
Carbon‐modified aluminum hydroxide catalysts, particularly with graphite and activated carbon black, significantly boost hydrogen generation from the Al/water reaction. The synergistic effect of graphite in the Al(OH)3 catalyst results in a remarkable activation energy reduction and achieves complete hydrogen yield in as little as 55 seconds.
