We discuss the synergy of Gaia and the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST) in the context of Milky Way studies. LSST can be thought of as Gaia's deep complement because the two surveys will deliver trigonometric parallax, proper-motion, and ...

ABSTRACT Modern medical imaging equipment can capture very high‐resolution images with detailed features. These high‐resolution images have been used in several domains. Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a medical condition where increased blood sugar levels of diabetic patients affect the retinal vessels of the eye.

TileGAN: Synthesis of Large-Scale Non-Homogeneous Textures
We tackle the problem of texture synthesis in the setting where many input images are given and a large-scale output is required. We build on recent generative adversarial networks and propose two extensions in this paper.

Wavelet‐Based Feature Extraction for Efficient High‐Resolution Image Classification
The paper introduces a novel CNN architecture that uses wavelet‐domain inputs for high‐resolution image processing. A wavelet‐domain efficient channel attention module that dynamically focuses on informative wavelet subbands is also presented. The proposed architecture improves classification accuracy while reducing computational complexity.

Abstract Even though the simulations used to predict failure are becoming increasingly predictive, complex multiaxial loading tests are still required to validate the design of structural components in a wide range of industries. Large specimen testing often requires two different scales.

Crosstalk in multi-output CCDs for LSST
LSST's compact, low power focal plane will be subject to electronic crosstalk with some unique signatures due to its readout geometry. This note describes the crosstalk mechanisms, ongoing characterization of prototypes, and implications for the ...

We report a Fourier ptychography reconstruction that enabled the use of low-cost Bayer-filtered color cameras. Using 3D-printing, consumer electronics and robust calibration we demonstrated a microscope capable of capturing sub-micron resolution 25-megapixel images under $150.

Optical Surface Roughness Estimation Using Artificial Intelligence
An artificial intelligence (AI) model has been developed using a data set recorded by a laser triangulation scanner and a digital camera. This model is capable of identifying whether blasted steel surfaces are good or bad, and it can also estimate the roughness of these surfaces in the form of the Rz parameter, based on images alone.
