Observations on extra-matrical vesicles of Gigaspora margarita in vitro
Transactions of the British Mycological Society, 1985Observations on the formation and development of vesicles by Gigaspora margarita suggest that they could be a potential source of inoculum for this VA fungus.

Gigaspora gigantea: parasitism of spores by fungi and actinomycetes
Mycological Research, 1994Fungi and actinomycetes were isolated monthly for one year from spores of the arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus Gigaspora gigantea recovered from a maritime sand dune. Spores in four different stages of vigour (newly formed, greenish-yellow healthy; yellow, moribund, mottled with brown spots; brown; and dead, blackened and collapsed) were used for ...

A new species of Gigaspora from desert soils of Rajasthan, India
World Journal of Microbiology & Biotechnology, 1993A new species of the endogonaceous fungus Gigaspora, isolated from the Indian semi-arid region, is described. The fungus, named G. tuberculata, produces rusty-brown azygospores with septate subtending hypha. The azygospores bear warts all over the outer wall. The shape, size and general appearance of these spores resemble those of Scutellospora persica.

Transformation of the arbuscular mycorrhiza Gigaspora rosea by particle bombardment
Mycological Research, 1998Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) are obligate symbionts which can only be propagated in association with intact plants or root explants. Molecular study of these fungi has been hampered by the inability to grow them in vitro and to obtain protoplasts. With the advent of advanced gene transformation systems, the opportunity has arisen to use biolistic

Intrasporal variability of ribosomal sequences in the endomycorrhizal fungus Gigaspora margarita
Molecular Ecology, 1999The sequence variability of the ribosomal internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region, which comprises the 5.8 gene and the flanking regions ITS1 and ITS2, was investigated in the arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus Gigaspora margarita. DNA analysis of a multispore preparation and three single spores led to the identification of 11 slightly different sequences (
