Geological Journal, EarlyView.Chemical states of Se and Br atoms in the KPg boundary sediments from Stevns Klint were studied using XAFS spectroscopy. The high concentrations of Se4+ could become an index of the degree to which the global environment was soiled with dust and ash derived from impact ejecta or volcanic eruptions.

X-Ray Observation of SN1987A from Ginga [PDF]
International Astronomical Union Colloquium, 1988 AbstractAn unusual hard X-ray source was discovered in an error box of 0.2° × 0.3° including SN1987A from the X-ray astronomy satellite Ginga. The energy spectrum is quite unusual for any known classes of X-ray source, and apparently consists of two separate components, a soft component and a very hard component.

Evidence of a local BCC‐type coordination of cobalt in FCC taenite of iron meteorites
Meteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.Abstract Ni, Co, and Fe K‐edge X‐ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) measurements were performed, revealing an unexpected local structure around Co in well‐known iron and stony‐iron meteorites. Cobalt is enriched in kamacite but remains in taenite at concentrations of at least 0.3 atom%.

Small, Volume 20, Issue 18, May 2, 2024.A series of nitrogen‐doped graphene mesosponges with largely identical pore structures (≈ 2100 m2 g−1) but different heteroatom functionalities are developed. It is found that heteroatom functionalities determine total capacitance (Ctot), resulting in the cyclic voltammetry curves being rectangular or butterfly‐shaped.

AGN Obscuration and the Unified Model
