Periodontitis and Platelets Status: A Systematic Review With Meta‐Analysis and Trial Sequential Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
The certainty is moderate for a slightly higher platelet count in patients with periodontitis compared to individuals without periodontitis and low for no difference in mean platelet volume between the two groups. The evidence is not robust to claim a clear difference in other platelet activation biomarkers between the two groups.

Accuracy of Metabolomics in Peri‐Implant Crevicular Fluid for Diagnosis and Prognosis of Peri‐Implantitis

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
Define metabolites diagnostic of peri‐implantitis and predictive of future radiographic bone‐level (RBL) destruction. Metabolomics via Proton‐Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy of peri‐implant crevicular fluid. Cadaverine/Lysine and Putrescine signatures predict peri‐implantitis, while alpha‐ketoglutarate diagnoses implant health.

Effect of Connective Tissue Grafts in the Regenerative Treatment of Intrabony Defects: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Regression Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
Incorporating a connective tissue graft (CTG) for the periodontal regenerative treatment (PRT) of intrabony defects appears beneficial in reducing postoperative gingival recession (GR) and might further enhance regenerative outcomes compared to PRT without CTG.

Retinol‐Augmented PRF Versus PRF Alone in Periodontal Regeneration: A Randomized Clinical Trial

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
VitA/i‐PRF and i‐PRF alone improved clinical and radiographic outcomes of M‐MIST in periodontal intraosseous defects of patients with stage‐III grade B periodontitis. VitA/i‐PRF showed a minor, clinically non‐significant advantage in defect depth reduction and bone fill at 6 months, with effects diminishing by 9 months in patients with stage‐III grade ...

The Effect of Non‐Surgical Periodontal Therapy on Subgingival Microbiota: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
This paper provides crucial insights and evidence on the effect of non‐surgical periodontal therapy on subgingival microbiota. NSPT leads to significant reductions in disease‐associated microbial species. Supportive periodontal care provision provided further decrease in mean counts of disease‐associated species.

Chlorhexidine 0.12% Mouthwash With or Without Bioflavonoids as an Adjunct to Non‐Surgical Periodontal Therapy: A Randomized Clinical Trial

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
This randomized clinical trial evaluated the adjunctive use of bioflavonoids in a 0.12% chlorhexidine mouthwash during non‐surgical periodontal therapy. The addition of bioflavonoids resulted in clinical and patient‐reported outcomes comparable to chlorhexidine alone, with both groups showing improvement over time and good overall treatment tolerance.
