Plasminogen activating capacity in gingival fluid from deteriorating and stable jreiodontal pockets
Journal of Periodontal Research, 2002The plasminogen activating system plays an important role in tissue proteolysis in physiological as well as pathological processes. Earlier studies have shown high concentrations of the plasminogen activator t‐PA as well as its inhibitor PAI‐2 in gingival crevicular fluid (GCF).

Both the modified Widman flap and the intrasulcular incision technique produced significant and similar reductions in pocket depth and increases in attachment. Loss of attachment occurred where the initial pocket depth was less than 3 mm. Both techniques resulted in significant and similar increases in gingival recession.

Background: Neutrophils play important roles in the homeostasis of periodontal tissues. However, remarkably little is known about how these cells live and die in the gingival crevice and periodontal pocket. We have examined whether subgingival neutrophils die by necrosis or apoptosis and have begun to study the mechanisms controlling the functional ...

Aim of this randomized controlled parallel-designed study was to evaluate the effects of diode laser as an adjunct to mechanical periodontal treatment on clinical parameters and gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) volume of the residual pockets diagnosed following initial periodontal treatment in chronic periodontitis (CP) patients.A total of 84 residual ...

Background and ObjectiveThis study evaluated the potential of gingival bleeding on probing to serve as a predictor of future periodontal breakdown. It also assessed the ability of 0.25% sodium hypochlorite twice‐a‐week oral rinse to convert periodontal pockets showing bleeding on probing to nonbleeding sites.Material and MethodsThe study was performed ...

ObjectivesThis study aims to evaluate the ability of a periodontal resective procedure (the Proximal Wedge Technique) to improve the long‐term health of the mandibular canines by reducing probing depths immediately post‐surgery via targeted tissue recontouring and precise debridement.
