Abstract Background To investigate the effect of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) on the incidence of peri‐implantitis (PI) and peri‐implant mucositis (PIM). Methods Radiographic and clinical chart reviews were conducted to measure the probing depth (PD), bleeding on probing, and marginal bone loss (MBL) around the implants to diagnose peri‐implant diseases ...

Periodontitis and metabolic diseases (diabetes and obesity): Tackling multimorbidity
Abstract Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) are multifactorial, long‐term, chronic conditions that represent a burden to health‐care systems worldwide as they can only be controlled rather than cured; hence, they require long‐term care. Abstract Background Peri‐implantitis poses a major challenge as contemporary nonsurgical treatments show dissatisfactory results and mucosal flap surgery is often needed. Diode lasers can remove granulation tissue and submucosal bacteria, and if it achieves similar clinical results, then it could be used as a less invasive first approach.
