Oral biofilms exposure to chlorhexidine results in altered microbial composition and metabolic profile [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Oral diseases (e.g., dental caries, periodontitis) are developed when the healthy oral microbiome is imbalanced allowing the increase of pathobiont strains.

Frequency of desquamative gingivitis in skin diseases

open access: yesOral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, 1983
In an attempt to determine the frequency of desquamative gingivitis (DG) in pemphigus vulgaris (PV), bullous pemphigoid (BP), cicatricial pemphigoid (CP), and lichen planus (LP), a large series of patients examined and classified in each group during the years 1972 to 1981 were included in this study. Analysis of the clinical data revealed that, of the

Hyperlipidemia Aggravates Alveolar Bone Loss via Periodontal Ligament Stem Cell Ferroptosis Through GSK3β Dependent Ubiquitin‐Mediated NRF2 Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lipid metabolic stress triggers ferroptosis in PDLSCs through the GSK3β/NRF2 pathway, thereby aggravating periodontal bone loss. Upregulated GSK3β promotes NRF2 ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation via β‐TrCP, suppressing NRF2 nuclear translocation and antioxidant target expression.

Interface Wettability Transition‐Driven Drug Release and Dual‐Phase Functionalization in Implant Abutment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A temporally controlled drug release coating is developed for abutments using a superhydrophobic coating self‐assembled on mesoporous silica. This surface provides sequential functionality: initial contamination resistance through non‐wetting, followed by controlled drug release via wettability transition.

Blockade of cyclophilin D rescues dexamethasone-induced oxidative stress in gingival tissue. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
Glucocorticoids (GCs) are frequently used for the suppression of inflammation in chronic inflammatory diseases. Excessive GCs usage is greatly associated with several side effects, including gingival ulceration, the downward migration of the epithelium ...
