ABSTRACT Across the animal kingdom, social behaviors such as aggression are critical for survival and reproductive success. While there is significant variation in social behaviors within and between species, the genetic mechanisms underlying natural variation in social behaviors are poorly understood.

RELIABLE INFERENCE FOR THE GINI INDEX [PDF]
Although attention has been given to obtaining reliable standard errors for the plugin estimator of the Gini index, all standard errors suggested until now are either complicated or quite unreliable. An approximation is derived for the estimator by which

Early prediction of multiple organ failure for sepsis patients based on machine learning algorithms
Abstract In recent years, there has been a notable rise in sepsis incidence leading to more multiple organ failure and higher mortality. The lack of effective treatments for sepsis highlights the importance of early prediction in preventing multiple organ failure. This study aimed to develop a model for the early prediction of multiple organ failure in

The Gini index, the dual decomposition of aggregation functions, and the consistent measurement of inequality [PDF]
In several economic fields, such as those related to health, education or poverty, the individuals’ characteristics are measured by bounded variables. Accordingly, these characteristics may be indistinctly represented by achievements or shortfalls.

Spatiotemporal Changes in Precipitation Concentration in the Atlantic‐European Region
This study analyses changes in precipitation concentration using ERA5 and E‐OBS datasets. Gini index as a measure of precipitation concentration revealed a gradual expansion of areas with increasing unevenness in precipitation distribution across the Atlantic‐European region since 1961.

Universal Critical Phase Diagram Using Gini Index
The critical phase surface of a system, in general, can depend on one or more parameters. We show that by calculating the Gini index ($g$) of any suitably defined response function of a system, the critical phase surface can always be reduced to that of a single parameter, starting from $g=0$ and terminating at $g=g_f$, where $g_f$ is a universal ...

ABSTRACT We study eigenvalue problems for the de Rham complex on varying three‐dimensional domains. Our analysis includes the Helmholtz equation as well as the Maxwell system with mixed boundary conditions and non‐constant coefficients. We provide Hadamard‐type formulas for the shape derivatives under weak regularity assumptions on the domain and its ...

Gini Index and Polynomial Pen's Parade [PDF]
In this paper, we propose a simple way to compute the Gini index when income y is a finite order k polynomial function of its rank among n individuals.Gini, Income inequality, Polynomial pen's parade, Ranks.

Linking Environmental Health and Civic Health: An Analysis of Air Pollution and Charitable Giving
ABSTRACT This study examines the effect of air pollution on charitable giving. We suggest that the burdens associated with poor air quality are associated with a dampening of civic and philanthropic engagement. Analyzing 12 years of county‐level data from the United States with fixed‐effects OLS and instrumental variables regressions, we identify a ...
