Studies on the cytotoxic mechanisms of ginkgetin in a human ovarian adenocarcinoma cell line
Naunyn-Schmiedeberg's Archives of Pharmacology, 2000The cytotoxic effects of ginkgetin, a natural biflavone isolated from Selaginella moellendorffii Hieron, were evaluated by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay in three different human cell lines: ovarian adenocarcinoma (OVCAR-3), cervical carcinoma (HeLa) and foreskin fibroblast (FS-5).

Heat shock protein 90 (Hsp90) is the prime molecular chaperone found to be overexpressed in cancer cells and pose as an anti-cancer therapeutic drug target for cancer chemotherapy. Even drugs are available which inhibit Hsp90, the associated side effects along with multi-drug regimen necessitate the identification of natural molecules to block the ...

Selective Cytotoxicity of Ginkgetin from Selaginella moellendorffii
Journal of Natural Products, 1997Bioassay-directed fractionation of an ethanolic extract of Selaginella moellendorffii has led to the isolation of a known biflavone, ginkgetin (1). A dose-dependent inhibition was observed with 1 on the growth of OVCAR-3 (human ovarian adenocarcinoma) cells with 50% inhibition occurring at 1.8 micrograms/mL.

Effects of Ginkgetin from Ginkgo biloba Leaves on Cyclooxygenases and In Vivo Skin Inflammation
Planta Medica, 2002Ginkgetin, a biflavone from Ginkgo biloba leaves, was previously reported to be a phospholipase A2 inhibitor and this compound showed the potent antiarthritic activity in rat adjuvant-induced arthritis as well as analgesic activity. This investigation was carried out to find effects on cyclooxygenase (COX)-1 and -2 including an in vivo effect ...

Ginkgetin inhibits proliferation of human leukemia cells via the TNF-α signaling pathway
Zeitschrift Fur Naturforschung - Section C Journal of Biosciences, 2017Abstract Ginkgetin is known to be an anticancer agent in many studies. However, its effectiveness in treating chronic lymphoblastic leukemia (CLL) remains unknown. The present study aimed to evaluate the effects of ginkgetin on the growth of the K562 cell line.

Current Molecular Pharmacology, 2023
Background: Ginkgetin, a flavonoid extracted from Ginkgo biloba, has been shown to exhibit broad anti-inflammatory, anticancer, and antioxidative bioactivity. Moreover, the extract of Ginkgo folium has been reported on attenuating bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis, but the anti-fibrotic effects of ginkgetin are still unclear.

Ginkgetin promotes proliferation and migration of Schwann cells via PIGF/p38 MAPK signaling pathway
Tissue and Cell, 2022The proliferation and migration of Schwann cells is pivotal to peripheral nerve injury (PNI) repair. Recent studies have revealed that Ginkgetin has neuroprotective effects. Hence, we focused on identifying whether Ginkgetin could regulate the proliferation and migration of Schwann cells, thereby contributing to the repair of PNI.

GINKGETIN AMELIORATES NEUROPATHOLOGICAL CHANGES IN APP/PS1 TRANSGENICAL MICE MODEL
The Journal Of Prevention of Alzheimer's Disease, 2015The extracellular accumulation of amyloid beta protein (Aβ), reactive gliosis and cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) play critical roles in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Ginkgetin, a biflavone isolated from Ginkgo biloba leaves, was previously reported to exhibit strong neuroprotection against cytotoxic insults induced by oxidative ...

Ginkgetin Inhibits the Growth of Melanoma Cells by Regulating JAK2/STAT3 Signaling Pathway
Current Topics in Nutraceutical Research, 2022Melanoma is the most invasive skin cancer with the highest risk of death. Better understanding of the pathogenesis of melanoma has helped identify new therapeutic targets and drugs against melanoma in prolonging the survival of melanoma patients. Ginkgetin is a bioflavonoid compound extracted from the leaves of Ginkgo biloba, which exhibits a multitude

Ginkgetin inhibits the proliferation and migration of lung cancer cells via FAK/STAT3/AKT pathway
Molecular Biology ReportsLung cancer has become a primary illness that severely endangers human life and health due to its extremely high morbidity and mortality rates. Ginkgetin has been proven to have toxic effects on various tumor cells. Nevertheless, the mechanism of Ginkgetin on lung cancer is uncertain. In the present study, the effect and possible mechanism of Ginkgetin
