Limits for GI/GI/N queues

2016 2nd International Conference on Industrial Engineering, Applications and Manufacturing (ICIEAM), 2016
We consider the first-come first-serve (FCFS) GI/GI/n queueing model in which inter-arrival times, service times and finite time interval are independent and generally distributed. For such systems, obtained either stationary characteristics, or features, in a heavy traffic. Another approach is approximation of the systems.

Quo vadis GIS: From GIS to GIMS and Open GIS

1995
Modern Geographic Information Systems should provide powerful user-oriented information systems for maintenance and analyses of spatially referenced data. The first part of the paper gives a gentle introduction into the area of GIS, their applications and provides a short overview of fundamental features in traditional GIS. Problems and deficiencies in

Applications of GIS

2007 IEEE Power Engineering Society General Meeting, 2006
This paper has described some examples for the application of GIS. The reasons for GIS are as various as the examples. One main common requirement is limited space in a dense populated or industrial used surrounding. GIS is used as indoor and outdoor equipment, where in Europe and Asia the prior use is indoor and in Japan and America the prior use is ...

GIS is Dead; Long Live GIS!

Journal of the American Planning Association, 1998
Abstract Changes in technology—especially advances in object-oriented programming systems and widespread digital connectivity via the World Wide Web—are fundamentally restructuring the way planners will interact with computers, and with the data and models that reside on those computers.

A Novel PD Detection Technique for Use in GIS Based on a Combination of UHF and Optical Sensors

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2019
Detecting partial discharge (PD) in gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) is an effective way to diagnose the insulation state of GIS. When PD occurs in GIS, optical and electromagnetic signals will be emitted from the discharge source.

Problem GIs and the GI Problem

2018
Drunken and brawling GIs behind the lines ended up providing the greatest irritant to good Franco-American relations. The warm welcome accorded to the liberators sometimes turned to active dislike as GI crime mounted. The French, used to low levels of crime before the war and “correct” German behavior during the occupation, were shocked by the ...

On approximations for the GI/GI/1 queue

Computer Networks and ISDN Systems, 1990
Abstract This paper contains an investigation of mean waiting time (and queue length) approximations for the GI/GI/1 queue. A great number of previous works on the subject have appeared. An important background for the present work is an ITC-paper by Sudhofen and Pawlita, containing a study of the H2/M/1 queue. This queue has a well-known solution.
