GIVETIAN BRACHIOPOD FAUNAS OF THE PALENTIAN DOMAIN (N SPAIN)

The origin, evolution, structural and stratigraphical features of the Palentian Domain (Cantabrian Mountains, N Spain) are summarily described. The boundaries of the Givetian succession (ca. 40 m thick) in that area are established from previously known conodont and ammonoid data.

The “elongate chelicera problem”: A virtual approach in an extinct pterygotid sea scorpion from a 3D kinematic point of view

How pterygotid sea scorpions used their tripartite elongate cheliceres to get prey items close to the mouth region remains a conundrum. We applied four different 3D kinematic settings with regard to insertion and orientation of the cheliceres to examine the most likely way this was realized.

Abstract The Lizard ophiolite, Cornwall, South‐West England, is the largest and best‐preserved ophiolite within the Variscan orogenic belt. It forms part of the Rheic‐Rhenohercynian suture zone, and was obducted northwestward onto the passive continental margin of Avalonia (Laurussia) during the Middle Devonian.
