Development genetic and stability classification of seasonal glacial lakes in a tectonically active area—A case study in Niangmuco, east margin of the Eastern Himalayan Syntaxis

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
The Niangmuco region on the east margin of the Eastern Himalayan Syntaxis features a large number of glacial lakes. The development process and stability classification of glacial lakes is of great significance to the study of seasonal glaciers in the ...

Evidence of climate change - Investigating glacial terminus and lake inventory using earth observation data for mountainous Bhutan

open access: yesScience of Remote Sensing
The mapping and monitoring of different types of Glacial lakes through the Geospatial techniques is vital to show the impact of climate changes on the Glacier and alleviate hazards that result from the bursting of Glacial Lakes and cause catastrophic ...

Asynchronous glacier dynamics during the Antarctic Cold Reversal in central Patagonia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We present 14 new 10Be cosmogenic nuclide exposure ages quantifying asynchronous readvances during the Antarctic Cold Reversal from glaciers in the Baker Valley region of central Patagonia.

Spatio-temporal variations of geo-climatic environment in a high-altitude landscape of Central Himalaya: An assessment from the perspective of vulnerability of glacial lakes

open access: yesNatural Hazards Research, 2022
Impacts of climate change on snow cover, permafrost and glaciers at varied elevations are wide-ranging and well-known. Melting water from glaciers forms glacial lakes; where, under the changing climate and accelerating glacial retreats have been a prime ...

Future prediction of existing glacial lake’s size in the Himalaya by Markov model and glacial surface topography

open access: yesAll Earth, 2023
Glacial lakes in the Himalayas are increasing in size and number at an alarming rate, with the majority of lakes concentrated in the eastern and central parts of the mountain range. This research focuses on the future prediction of regional-scale glacial

Recent Changes of Glacial Lakes in the High Mountain Asia and Its Potential Controlling Factors Analysis

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2021
The current glacial lake datasets in the High Mountain Asia (HMA) region still need to be improved because their boundary divisions in the land–water transition zone are not precisely delineate, and also some very small glacial lakes have been lost due ...

Refining the interpretation of lacustrine carbonate isotope records: Implications of a mineralogy-specific Lake Van case study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Oxygen and carbon isotope (δ18O and δ13C) data from bulk carbonates are widely applied proxies for temperature, the precipitation/evaporation ratio and productivity in lacustrine palaeohydrology and palaeoclimatology. In case of the terminal and alkaline

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Formation of new periglacial lakes in the Grønfjord basin (Svalbard) in 1938–2010

open access: yesЛëд и снег, 2022
Based on remote sensing and field methods, the state of the glacial lakes located in the Grønfjord Bay basin, Svalbard, was assessed for 2008–2010. New lakes were formed due to the retreat of the mountain-valley glaciers of the Nordenskiöld Land and the ...

Northeast Glaciers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
This reference guide provides a brief review of glaciers in the Northeastern U.S. It then focuses on the glacial affects in four areas, an inland basin near the Finger Lakes area of New York, the Appalachian/Piedmont through New York and Pennsylvania ...
