Effect of Composition on Engineering Behavior of Clay Tills
Glacial geology, marine environment, and arid climate govern the composition of clay tills. The main purpose of this work is to develop a clear understanding of the engineering behavior of compacted clay till under soil suction and applied stress.

Lithological Units of Glaciolacustrine Border during the last glaciation in the Jura Range (France) [PDF]
Dunng the last glacial period (Würm), the Jura range was covered by an ice cap independent of the alpine cap; its length was about 100 km in the NE-SW direction and 40 km in the SE-NW direction.

The Caldor fire burned ~222,000 acres of the Eastern Sierra Nevada during summer–fall 2021. We evaluated the effects of this “megafire” on the physical properties of a sandy soil developed from glacial tills to document fire-induced soil modifications in

Hymenobacter arcticus sp. nov., isolated from glacial till
A novel, red–pink-pigmented strain, designated R2-4T, was isolated from a till sample near Ny-Alesund, Svalbard Archipelago, Norway. Cells were aerobic, Gram-stain-negative and rod-shaped. Growth occurred at 4–30 °C (optimum, 20–22 °C), at pH 6.0–9.0 (optimum, pH 7.0) and with 0–1 % NaCl added to R2A agar.

Glacial dynamics in pre-Alpine narrow valleys during the Last Glacial Maximum inferred by lowland fluvial records (northeast Italy) [PDF]
During the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM), most of the major glaciated basins of the European Southern Alps had piedmont lobes with large outwash plains; only a few glaciers remained within the valley.

Preferential export of permafrost-derived organic matter as retrogressive thaw slumping intensifies
Enhanced warming of the Northern high latitudes has intensified thermokarst processes throughout the permafrost zone. Retrogressive thaw slumps (RTS), where thaw-driven erosion caused by ground ice melt creates terrain disturbances extending over tens of

Micromorphology and microstructural analysis of polyphase deformation of tills, West Runton [PDF]
Glacially deformed sediments have been studied intensely since the 1970’s (van der Meer and Menzies, 2011), and with this, the use of micromorphology as a component technique (Menzies and Maltman, 1992; van der Meer, 1993; Menzies, 2000; Phillips and ...
