The bonding of glass ceramics to bone
International Orthopaedics, 1989In this study the bonding behaviour of glass ceramics, containing apatite and wollastonite, to bone tissue is shown to vary depending on the amount of alumina they contain. This kind of two-phase materials is constituted by nanocrystals embedded in a glass matrix and the respective composition and volume fractions of crystalline and amorphous phase determine the properties of the glass-ceramic.
