Microstructure, Thermal Transport, and Dry‐Sliding Tribology of Powder‐Metallurgy Al7075 Composites Reinforced With Sol–Gel‐Derived ZnO–rGO Hybrid Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Sol–gel‐derived ZnO–rGO hybrid nanoparticles enable Al7075 powder‐metallurgy composites to achieve concurrent gains in hardness and thermal conductivity while markedly lowering friction and wear. The hybrid architecture couples ZnO‐based load support with rGO‐assisted lamellar sliding and heat spreading, revealing a promising route toward lightweight ...

Enhancement of glass-forming ability of CoFeBSiNb bulk glassy alloys with excellent soft-magnetic properties and superhigh strength

open access: yes, 2011
Co-based bulk glassy alloys with diameters up to 4.5 mm were formed in Co46Fe20B22+xSi6-xNb6 (x = 0-2) system. The increase of B to Si concentration ratio is effective in improving the glass-forming ability. In addition to high glass-forming ability, the

Liquid -to-glass transition in bulk glass-forming Cu55-xZr45Agx alloys using molecular dynamic simulations

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2011
We report results from molecular dynamics (MD) studies concerning the microscopic structure of the ternary, bulk metallic glass-forming Cu55-x Zr45Agx (x=0,10,20) alloys using tight-binding potentials. Understanding of the nature of Glass Forming Ability

Hybrid Metal–Carbon Ink for Printed Stretchable Temperature Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We prepare conductive inks for temperature sensing with silver flakes and carbon or graphite flakes in a silicone elastomer matrix. Silver dominates the temperature‐dependent conductivity, while the carbon filler network ensures the stability of the conductive pathways and retains function under strain.

Influences of preparation techniques on glass-forming ability of Fe-P-B-Si-C amorphous alloys

open access: yes, 2018
It has been widely accepted that the ultrafast cooling rate is required for the glass formation of amorphous alloys. Here, the larger glass-forming ability (GFA) of Fe76P5(B0.5Si0.3C0.2)(19) amorphous alloy was achieved by water quenching at lower ...

Free volume: An indicator of the glass-forming ability in binary alloys

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2017
As a specific concept, free volume is proposed to affect the glass formation in alloys, while such issue remains unsolved, because free volume itself is ambiguous and elusive.
