MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created

A New Ni-Based Metallic Glass with High Thermal Stability and Hardness
Glass forming ability (GFA), thermal stability and microhardness of Ni51−xCuxW31.6B17.4 (x = 0, 5) metallic glasses have been investigated. For each alloy, thin sheets of samples having thickness of 20 µm and 100 µm were synthesized by piston and anvil

Understanding the Origin of Glass Forming Ability in Metallic Glasses [PDF]
The glass forming ability of metallic glasses has been one of their most studied yet least understood properties. Crystal nucleation in a recently development Ni-based metallic glass was studied by undercooling in a DSC under a variety of conditions and

Atomic-Scale Mechanisms of the Glass-Forming Ability in Metallic Glasses
The issue, composition dependence of glass-forming ability (GFA) in metallic glasses (MG), has been investigated by systematic experimental measurements coupled with theoretical calculations in Cu-Zr and Ni-Nb alloy systems. It is found that the atomic-level packing efficiency strongly relates to their GFA.
