Composites Science and Technology, 1985Abstract Specific interactions between chemical environments and glass fibers cause stress corrosion cracking in the glass fiber surface. The interaction between fibers and diluted acids can be characterized readily in terms of a visible core/shell morphology that develops during the extraction process.
