Glass Fiber Reinforced-Polymer (GFRP) Bar Reinforced Concrete Deck Slab: Strength and Serviceability
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2011This paper presents the study on GFRP bar reinforced concrete bridge deck that is designed as typical one-way concrete slab. Parametric study of deck thickness, girder spacing, and environmental reduction factor was performed, on the basis of requirements per ACI 440.1R-06 guideline, from which the results show that design of GFRP RC deck is controlled

The use of glass-fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) bar to replace steel reinforcement in concrete structures is a relatively a new technique. The GFRP bars possess mechanical properties different from steel bars, including high tensile strength combined with low elastic modulus and linear stress–strain relationship up to failure.

Construction Technologies and Architecture
Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) has been used in construction as it is lightweight, has flexural strength, is more durable and resistant to corrosion, impact, and fire. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is a modern technique to predict the tensile behavior and cracking pattern of structural members using nonlinear finite element analysis (NLFEA).

Recently, glass fiber reinforced polymer plastic (GFRP) pipes are widely used in the water-supply system because of their advantages such as light-weight, corrosion resistance, etc. In previous study, we present the equation to predict stiffness factor (EI) of GFRP pipe with two tape-winding FRP layers and polymer mortar layer in between two FRP layers.

Glass Fiber-reinforced Polymer (GFRP) Bars for Internal Reinforcement of Concrete Members
2014AC454 establishes guidelines for evaluation of an alternative reinforcement for steel-reinforced concrete structures, where the codes do not provide design provisions, or requirements for testing and determination of physical and mechanical properties of this type of reinforcement products.
