AbstractThe morphology and organization of chromatophores in the neotropical glass‐frog, Centrolenella fleischmanni (family Centrolenidae), were studied with both light and electron microscopes. Four types of pigment cells are described in the dorsal skin.

A NEW SPECIES OF GLASS FROG (CENTROLENIDAE: COCHRANELLA OCELLATA GROUP) FROM CENTRAL PERU
Herpetologica, 2006We describe a new species of Cochranella from the Cordillera de Carpish, Departamento Huanuco, Peru. The new species is placed in the Cochranella ocellata group and can be distinguished from all other species of Cochranella by having: (1) small white and dark purple spots on the dorsum; (2) a snout slightly protruding to truncate in lateral aspect; (3)

Bolivian glass frogs (Anura: Centrolenidae) with a description of a new species from Amazonia
Proceedings of the Biological Society of Washington, 2005ABSTRACT We describe a new species of Cochranella from the Serrania de Huanchaca, Bolivia. The new species possesses a suite of unusual characteristics, most notably dermal glands along its fingers and toes. Cochranella spiculata is reported from Bolivia and we describe the females of that species. New material of C. bejaranoi from Chuquisaca collected

Abstract:The river zonation hypothesis predicts that abiotic and biotic conditions along riparian gradients drive variation in animal communities. Glass frogs are a diverse group of Neotropical anurans that use riparian habitats exclusively for oviposition and larval development, but little is known about how glass frog communities are distributed ...

Abstract Social behaviors often are context dependent; behaviors at high density may change or disappear at lower population densities. We analyzed spatial dispersion patterns and habitat associations at high and low population densities of male Espadarana (Centrolene) prosoblepon that declined following the invasion of a pathogenic fungus ...

A Remarkable New Glass Frog (Centrolenidae:Vitreorana) from the Northeast Atlantic Forest, Brazil
Herpetologica, 2014Abstract: We describe a new species of glass frog (Vitreorana) from Fazenda Novo Pau Brasil, in the Atlantic Forest habitat of northeastern Brazil. Previous to this work, Vitreorana baliomma sp. nov. was misidentified as V. eurygnatha, from which it can be distinguished by the iris pattern flecked with star-shape melanophores; rudimentary nuptial ...
