Bioinspired Hierarchical Architecture with Water Transport Channels for Strong Adhesion at the Sweating Interface. [PDF]

open access: yesAdv Sci (Weinh)
To address adhesion failure in sweaty epidermal electronics, this study proposes a cross‐species, multi‐scale biomimetic interface. By modeling staged wet adhesion, it integrates self‐regulating liquid bridges with directional drainage. This design ensures stable, high‐performance flexible sensing in complex physiological environments, offering a ...

Phase retrieval via regularization in self-diffraction based spectral interferometry

open access: yes, 2014
A novel variant of spectral phase interferometry for direct electric-field reconstruction (SPIDER) is introduced and experimentally demonstrated. Other than most previously demonstrated variants of SPIDER, our method is based on a third-order nonlinear ...

Inline self-diffraction dispersion-scan of over octave-spanning pulses in the single-cycle regime [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We present an implementation of dispersion-scan based on self-diffraction (SD d-scan) and apply it to the measurement of over octave-spanning sub-4-fs pulses. The results are compared with second-harmonic generation (SHG) d-scan. The efficiency of the SD

Bidirectional Photoswitching of a Tailored Azobenzene with Red and Far‐Red Light Involving Triplet Sensitization in an Aqueous System

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The action spectrum of a tailored azobenzene is shifted toward bio‐optical window through the chemical modification of its singlet and triplet energy levels. Consequently, the bidirectional photo‐switching of azobenzene in physiological conditions is achieved when excited by red and far‐red light, which offers greater tissue penetration.

Affinity Peptides With pH Sensitivity for the Enrichment of CD38+ Cells

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The selective enrichment of cell populations based on surface markers is critical for the advancement of gene and cell therapies. Current antibody‐based cell isolation methods, such as fluorescence‐ and magnetic‐activated cell sorting (FACS and MACS), offer high specificity but are limited by scalability, cost, and potential adverse effects on

Biophysical processes of morphogenesis in lizard lungs

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The lungs of squamate reptiles (lizards and snakes) are highly diverse, exhibiting single chambers, multiple chambers, transitional forms with two to three chambers, along with a suite of other anatomical features, including finger‐like epithelial projections into the body cavity known as diverticulae.

Effects of aminoperimidine on electrolyte transport across amphibian skin [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
The effect of aminoperimidine (AP)on transepithelial Na+ transport and Cl- conductance (G(Cl)) of isolated amphibian skin (Bufo viridis and Rana esculenta) was analyzed using transepithelial and intracellular electrophysiological techniques.

Mosaic activation of the zebrafish hsp70l heat shock promoter: Implications for interpreting transgenes

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The promoters and enhancers of heat shock genes, such as the 1.5‐kb promoter of the zebrafish hsp70l gene, are valuable tools for temporal activation of transgenes. It has been widely purported that heat shock treatments result in ubiquitous expression of hsp70l‐driven transgenes.

Ecuadorian Glass Frogs: Current state of knowledge, new research trends and conservation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Ecuador has the biggest number of amphibian species per unit of area in the world (427 species in 276,840 km 2 ). Glass frogs (Centrolenidae), with 30 species, constitute 7.06 % of the Ecuadorian anurans. However, the current state of knowledge of this family in Ecuador is still very basic. Several

Capillary Electrophoresis With Amperometric Detection for Neurotransmitter Analysis: Principles, Electrode Materials, Methodologies, and Applications

open access: yesELECTROPHORESIS, EarlyView.
This review provides a comprehensive summary of monoamine neurotransmitter analysis by capillary electrophoresis with amperometric detection. Fundamental principles of amperometric detection, electrode positioning strategies, and approaches to high‐voltage decoupling are described, followed by a critical comparison of electrode materials, selection of ...
