Finite size effect on the magnetic glass

Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter, 2021
Abstract The nature of glass formation and crystallization in structural glass is yet to be understood despite the intense studies of many decades. Analogous to the structural glasses, hindered first order magnetic transitions produce magnetic glasses, where the volume fraction of two phases having long range structural and magnetic ...

Glass Fiber Functional Warp Sizing

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
The sizing agent is made by polypropylene powder in blending method and then sizing the warp with it. The result of its sizing performance shows that the sizing capacity of the newly made sizing agent could meet the requirement of waving property compared with the traditional sizing agent.

Tribology of Sized Glass Fibers

Textile Research Journal, 2000
Lateral force microscopy (LFM) and an electronic microbalance method are used for a friction force analysis of sized glass fibers, which are generally used to reinforce com posite materials. Friction coefficients of glass fibers A and E, coated with sizes containing a starch and an epoxy film former, respectively, are determined. Friction force values

Quantum size effects in simple colored glass

Physical Review B, 1985
Finite size effects have been observed at low temperatures for electrons confined to semiconductor microcrystallites embedded in a simple borosilicate glass. Luminescence data reveal large electronic energy shifts relative to bulk energy levels which can be used to calculate the confinement energy of the localized electrons.

Sizing Chemistry of Glass Fibers

2021
Glass fiber reinforcements form the foundation of a composites industry with a global annual production of greater than ten million tons of high performance, light-weight, carbon footprint lowering materials. Possibly the most critical component involved in the manufacture of glass fibers and their composites is the fiber sizing.

Cluster size distribution in Gaussian glasses

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2011
A simple method for the estimation of the asymptotics of the cluster numbers in Gaussian glasses is described. Validity of the method was tested by the comparison with the exact analytic result for the non‐correlated field and simulation data for the distribution of random energies in strongly spatially correlated dipolar glass model.

Pore size determination in Vycor glass

Radiation Physics and Chemistry, 2003
Abstract Pore formation in Vycor glass subjected to annealing at 530°C and 550°C for different periods of time ranging from 4 to 48 h was studied. The o-Ps lifetime in such a medium was in the range 60–100 ns, while the intensity of this component varied from 20% to 28%.
