Quantum size effects in simple colored glass
Physical Review B, 1985Finite size effects have been observed at low temperatures for electrons confined to semiconductor microcrystallites embedded in a simple borosilicate glass. Luminescence data reveal large electronic energy shifts relative to bulk energy levels which can be used to calculate the confinement energy of the localized electrons.

Sizing Chemistry of Glass Fibers
2021Glass fiber reinforcements form the foundation of a composites industry with a global annual production of greater than ten million tons of high performance, light-weight, carbon footprint lowering materials. Possibly the most critical component involved in the manufacture of glass fibers and their composites is the fiber sizing.

Cluster size distribution in Gaussian glasses
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2011A simple method for the estimation of the asymptotics of the cluster numbers in Gaussian glasses is described. Validity of the method was tested by the comparison with the exact analytic result for the non‐correlated field and simulation data for the distribution of random energies in strongly spatially correlated dipolar glass model.

Pore size determination in Vycor glass
Radiation Physics and Chemistry, 2003Abstract Pore formation in Vycor glass subjected to annealing at 530°C and 550°C for different periods of time ranging from 4 to 48 h was studied. The o-Ps lifetime in such a medium was in the range 60–100 ns, while the intensity of this component varied from 20% to 28%.

Chaotic Size Dependence in Spin Glasses
1993We argue that chaotic size dependence is an intrinsic feature of the infiniterange Sherrington-Kirkpatrick (SK) model and should occur in short-range spin glasses if their low temperature behavior is analogous to that of the SK model. Chaotic size dependence offers a new way to distinguish, both numerically and theoretically, between the multistate ...
