Flexual buckling of structural glass columns. Initial geometrical imperfection as a base for Monte Carlo simulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In this paper Monte Carlo simulations of structural glass columns are presented. The simulation was performed according to the analytical second order theory of compressed elastic rods.

Size-Dependent Localization in Polydisperse Colloidal Glasses [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2017
We have investigated concentrated suspensions of polydisperse hard spheres and have determined the dynamics and sizes of individual particles using confocal microscopy. With increasing concentration, the dynamics of the small and large particles start to differ. The large particles exhibit slower dynamics and stronger localization.

The effect of particle size on the crystallization LiGe2(PO4)3 phase from glass [PDF]

open access: yesScience of Sintering
The glass was prepared by the standard melt-quenching technique. The crystallization of powder glass from the system Li2O-Al2O3-GeO2-P2O5 was studied.

Characterization of glass beads by image methods for pavement marking retroreflectivity

open access: yesTransportes, 2022
Road safety is a worldwide concern. Traffic injuries are the main cause of death for children and young people. One alternative to improve traffic safety is the enhancement of pavement markings visibility.

Pre-Treatment Characteristics for LCD Glass Recycling: Dismantling, Crushing, and Separation [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Metallurgy and Materials, 2019
A liquid crystal display (LCD) recycling process is needed to increase its efficiency by recovering the resources in addition to metals and plastics. This study investigates the pre-treatment process for recycling LCD glass.

Spin-Glass and Chiral-Glass Transitions in a $\pm J$ Heisenberg Spin-Glass Model in Three Dimensions

open access: yes, 2001
The three-dimensional $\pm J$ Heisenberg spin-glass model is investigated by the non-equilibrium relaxation method from the paramagnetic state. Finite-size effects in the non-equilibrium relaxation are analyzed, and the relaxation functions of the spin ...

Spin-Coating of Sizing on Glass Fibres

open access: yesMicro
Size is a surface coating applied to glass fibres during manufacture, and it is arguably the most important component in a glass-reinforced composite. Research and development on sizings and composite interfaces are severely limited, because conventional
