A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Electrochemical Deposition of Al-Ti Alloys from Equimolar AlCl3 + NaCl Containing Electrochemically Dissolved Titanium

open access: yesMetals, 2020
Al-Ti alloys were electrodeposited from equimolar chloroaluminate molten salts containing up to 0.1 M of titanium ions, which were added to the electrolyte by potentiostatic dissolution of metallic Ti.

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

Role of sp2 carbon in non-enzymatic electrochemical sensing of glucose using boron-doped diamond electrodes

open access: yesElectrochemistry Communications, 2021
Boron-doped diamond (BDD) is of increasing interest for applications in electrochemical sensing. It is well known that the sp2 carbon content in BDD influences its electrochemical properties as electrode material.

Glassy carbon paste electrodes

open access: yesElectrochemistry Communications, 2001
A new carbon composite electrode material, based on mixing glassy carbon (GC) microparticles with an organic pasting liquid is described. The resulting glassy carbon paste electrode (GCPE) combines the electrochemical properties of GC with the various advantages of composite electrodes. Glassy carbon pastes (GCPs) offer high electrochemical reactivity,

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Voltammetric determination of nicotine in cigarette tobacco at electrochemically activated glassy carbon electrode

open access: yesBulletin of the Chemical Society of Ethiopia, 2013
The electrochemical behavior of nicotine was investigated using cyclic and square wave voltammetric techniques. Electrochemical activation of glassy carbon electrode significantly increased the oxidation peak current of nicotine compared to the bare ...
