Understanding and Optimizing Li Substitution in P2‐Type Sodium Layered Oxides for Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores Li‐substituted P2 layered oxides for Na‐ion batteries by crystallographic and electrochemical studies. The effect of lithium on superstructure orderings, on phase transitions during synthesis and electrochemical cycling and on the interplay of O‐ versus TM‐redox is revealed via various advanced techniques, including semi‐simultaneous

Gold nanoparticles electrodeposited on glassy carbon using cyclic voltammetry: Application to Hg(II) trace analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The electrochemical determination of Hg(II) at trace level using gold nanoparticles–modified glassy carbon (AuNPs–GC) electrodes is described. Starting from HAuCl4 in NaNO3, gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) were deposited onto Glassy Carbon (GC) electrodes ...

3D (Bio) Printing Combined Fiber Fabrication Methods for Tissue Engineering Applications: Possibilities and Limitations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Biofabrication aims at providing innovative technologies and tools for the fabrication of tissue‐like constructs for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. By integrating multiple biofabrication technologies, such as 3D (bio) printing with fiber fabrication methods, it would be more realistic to reconstruct native tissue's ...

Activation and deactivation of glassy carbon electrodes

open access: yesJournal of Electroanalytical Chemistry and Interfacial Electrochemistry, 1985
Abstract A procedure is described for treating glassy carbon to create an active electrode. For the first time, a level of activity comparable to that of active Pt has been attained. This was determined by the heterogeneous electron transfer rate (0.14±0.01 cm/s) of ferri-/ferro-cyanide.

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

A pendant proton shuttle on [Fe4N(CO)12]- alters product selectivity in formate vs. H2 production via the hydride [H-Fe4N(CO)12]. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Proton relays are known to increase reaction rates for H2 evolution and lower overpotentials in electrocatalytic reactions. In this report we describe two electrocatalysts, [Fe4N(CO)11(PPh3)]- (1-) which has no proton relay, and hydroxyl-containing [Fe4N(

Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries

Electrochemical Detection of Bisphenol A Using Graphene-Modified Glassy Carbon Electrod

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2012
Graphene’s nano-dimensional nature and excellent electron transfer properties underlie its electrocatalytic behavior towards certain substances. In this light, we have used graphene in the electrochemical detection of bisphenol A.

Ionic conductivity and relaxation dynamics in plastic-crystals with nearly globular molecules

open access: yes, 2020
We have performed a dielectric investigation of the ionic charge transport and the relaxation dynamics in plastic-crystalline 1-cyano-adamantane (CNA) and in two mixtures of CNA with the related plastic crystals adamantane or 2-adamantanon.
