Linear discriminant functions to improve the glaucoma probability score analysis to detect glaucomatous optic nerve heads : a multicenter study

open access: yes, 2013
PURPOSE: The purpose of the study was to create a linear discriminant function (LDF) formula by using the new Glaucoma Probability Score (GPS) global and sectorial optic nerve head parameters measured by Heidelberg Retinal Tomograph 3 to improve the GPS

Comparison of Vision-related Quality of Life Between Normal Tension Glaucoma and Primary Open-angle Glaucoma

open access: yes, 2022
Prcis: Although there was little difference in overall vision-related quality of life (VRQOL) between patients with normal tension glaucoma (NTG) and primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) after controlling for confounding factors, POAG tended to have poorer

Hip Fracture Risk of Lemborexant and Suvorexant in Comparison With Z‐Drugs: A Target Trial Emulation

open access: yesJournal of the American Geriatrics Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Lemborexant and suvorexant are widely used dual orexin receptor antagonists (DORAs) for the pharmacological treatment of insomnia. Although they are generally considered safer than benzodiazepine receptor agonists (Z‐drugs) regarding adverse events including hip fractures, evidence from direct comparisons remains limited. This study

Chronic Health Condition Trajectories and Multimorbidity in Older Adults With Intellectual Disability: A Brief Report of 15 years of Longitudinal Evidence From IDS‐TILDA

open access: yesJournal of Intellectual Disability Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Adults with intellectual disability experience significant health issues that increase with age. Longitudinal analyses offer important evidence on how the trajectories of these conditions' develop and change. Methods Data were drawn from five waves of IDS‐TILDA, with a nationally representative sample of over 700 adults with ...

Ion Channel Dysfunction and Therapeutic Targeting in Salivary Gland Disorders

open access: yesOral Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Salivary gland hypofunction and xerostomia represent major clinical complications of radiation therapy, autoimmune disorders such as Sjögren's disease, and inherited epithelial ion transport defects. This review integrates current knowledge on ion channel dysfunction as a central mechanistic driver of salivary gland pathology and ...

Early oxidation‐related changes in aqueous humor following eye exposure to ultraviolet‐A radiation

open access: yesPhotochemistry and Photobiology, EarlyView.
UVA exposure induces early oxidative alterations in the aqueous humor, disrupting its antioxidant balance. Levels of ascorbic acid, reduced glutathione (GSH), and the GSH/GSSG ratio decrease, while oxidized glutathione (GSSG), S‐glutathionylated proteins (PSSG), and malondialdehyde (MDA), a lipid peroxidation by‐product, increase.

Micropulse transscleral cyclophotocoagulation in canine glaucoma: A retrospective study evaluating sweep velocity

open access: yesVeterinary Ophthalmology, Volume 28, Issue 2, Page 293-305, March 2025.
Abstract Objective To report preliminary results of MP‐TSCP in canine patients with glaucoma while evaluating sweep velocity, treatment efficacy, and safety utilizing standardized surgical parameters. Animal studied Client‐owned dogs that underwent MP‐TSCP at a veterinary referral hospital. Procedure Medical records of 19 eyes (14 dogs) treated with MP‐
