Ahmed Glaucoma Valve Revision Versus Viscotrabeculotomy After Failed Ahmed Glaucoma Valve in Refractory Pediatric Glaucoma

Journal of Glaucoma, 2019
Purpose: To compare the outcome of the intraocular pressure (IOP) of Ahmed glaucoma valve (AGV) revision to visco-trabeculotomy (VT) in children’s eyes with failed AGV. Patients and Methods: A prospective randomized study conducted on 41 children (41 eyes) with uncontrolled glaucoma

'Valve Trabeculotomy' in Glaucoma

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1984
The surgical technique of "valve trabeculotomy" includes preparing the superficial and the inner limboscleral flaps while the midscleral lamina is excised. The operation was performed on 100 glaucomatous eyes of 82 patients. Postoperative complications included hyphema in 11 cases, mild iridocyclitis in four eyes, and choroidal detachment in six cases.

Strabismus After Ahmed Glaucoma Valve Implantation

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 2021
Most reports of strabismus after glaucoma drainage device implantation study larger devices and rarely note the incidence of strabismus after Ahmed glaucoma valve (AGV) implantation. It is unknown if the pattern of strabismus is similar with smaller devices.

Ahmed valve in glaucoma surgery

Vestnik oftal'mologii, 2017
This is a review on Ahmed valve application in glaucoma surgery. It contains, in particular, data on the Ahmed valve efficiency, results of experimental and histological studies of filtering bleb encapsulation, examines the use of antimetabolites and anti-VEGF agents, and discusses implantation techniques.

Outcomes of Ahmed Glaucoma Valve Revision in Pediatric Glaucoma

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 2017
Encapsulation of the Ahmed glaucoma valve (AGV) plate is a common cause for postoperative elevation of intraocular pressure, especially in children. Many reports have described the outcomes of AGV revision in adults. However, the outcomes of AGV revision in children are poorly documented.

Chorioretinal Folds Following Glaucoma Valve Implantation

Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging Retina, 1998
Abstract. Glaucoma valve implants have been observed to cause scleral indentation and flattening. The authors report the case of a 79-year-old woman who had previously undergone glaucoma valve implantation, and who subsequently developed chorioretinal folds that corresponded to the implant in location and configuration. Accumulation of fluid behind the

Novel Micromachined Valved Glaucoma Drainage Devices

2006 International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2006
In this work two novel valve devices are proposed for treatment of glaucoma. By opening or closing, the proposed valves can be used to reduce high pressures in the eye (hypertony), or prevent low pressures in the eye (hypotony) respectively. These devices work based on the buckling of fluid channel connected to the anterior chamber of the eye.

Ahmed glaucoma valve implantation in glaucoma surgery

National Journal glaucoma
Glaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide. Despite the large variety of treatment methods used in glaucoma, most researchers believe that surgery is the most effective way to normalize the level of intraocular pressure and preserve visual functions.
