THE BEGINNINGS OF TIN‐OPACIFICATION OF POTTERY GLAZES
Archaeometry, 1997A multidisciplinary programme of research on the glazed ceramics of the Islamic world has been focused on questions of their dating, provenance and technology. One particular question has been the development of tin‐opacified glazes, and the nature of glaze opacification generally in the Islamic world.

The Medieval Glazed Pottery of Lazio
Papers of the British School at Rome, 1967Medieval archaeology in the sense of a field study involving controlled excavation is in its infancy in Italy. Scarcely a dozen excavations have been carried out with the recovery of information about the middle ages as their primary objective and little attention has been paid to the material remains of everyday life.

Mössbauer spectroscopic study on glaze of pottery
Hyperfine Interactions, 1994Iron-barium glaze was prepared from commercially available materials for ceramic arts and from chemical reagents, and investigated by means of Mossbauer spectroscopy and an electron probe micro analyzer (EPMA). Mossbauer spectra showed a doublet of paramagnetic high-spin Fe(II) and Fe(III) incorporated into aluminosilicate, and the magnetically-split ...

Reflection properties of the ‘silvery glaze’ on the green glaze of Chinese traditional potteries
Journal of Optics A: Pure and Applied Optics, 2008Based on experimental data we propose an optical multilayer model to investigate the 'silvery glaze' (SG) on the surface of the green glaze (GG) of Chinese traditional potteries (CTPs) and calculate the reflective and average reflective spectra for visible and infrared light.

Leaching of arsenic from glazed and nonglazed potteries into foods
Science of The Total Environment, 2016Potteries are traditionally used for cooking and storing foods in Turkey, the Mediterranean, and Middle East regions. Leaching of inorganic arsenic into the traditional white bean dish cooked in pottery has been determined for the first time in the literature.

Heterogeneous distribution of metal nanocrystals in glazes of historical pottery
Applied Surface Science, 2002It has been recently shown that lustre decoration of medieval and renaissance pottery consists of silver and copper nanocrystals, dispersed within the glassy matrix of the ceramic glaze. Lustre surfaces show peculiar optical effects such as metallic reflection and iridescence. In many cases, lustre appears overlapped to colored drawings. Here we report

Transparent Glazing of Traditional Kınık Potteries (Bilecik-Turkey) with Boron Oxide Bearing Glaze
Key Engineering Materials, 2004In this study, a new glaze composition has been developed for Kinik's potters, as a subsitute for a traditional lead containing glaze. The result of dissolution test showed that the amount of lead contamination was 16.24 ppm, which is three times higher than the allowed value in Turkish Porcelain Tableware Standards (TS 10850).
