Abstract 4145489: Serum Proteomics Approach to Identify the ‘Hepatic Factor’ Causing Pulmonary Arteriovenous Malformations Post-Glenn Shunt

Circulation
Introduction: Pulmonary Arteriovenous Malformations (PAVMs) are a main surgical complication of second-stage palliative Glenn shunt for single ventricle. PAVMs lead to early mortality.

Bidirectional Glenn Shunt for Right Ventricular Endomyocardial Fibrosis

Asian Cardiovascular and Thoracic Annals, 2002
A 25-year-old man in New York Heart Association functional class IV with right ventricular endomyocardial fibrosis received a palliative bidirectional Glenn shunt. Despite a stormy postoperative convalescence the bidirectional Glenn shunt provided good long-term palliation.

Extracardiac Fontan Operation after Late Bidirectional Glenn Shunt

Asian Cardiovascular and Thoracic Annals, 2010
The outcomes of 33 consecutive extracardiac Fontan operations performed between 1999 and 2008 in patients who mostly had initial Glenn shunts beyond infancy were reviewed. Preoperatively, the median oxygen saturation was 76.2% and mean pulmonary artery pressure was 10.5 mm Hg.

Right ventricular thrombosis early after bidirectional Glenn shunt

The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1999
Thrombosis in the right ventricle occurred early after bidirectional superior cavopulmonary shunt in 2 patients with pulmonary atresia with intact ventricular septum and major right ventricular coronary artery communication, and perioperative brain infarction occurred in 1 patient.

Bi-directional Glenn shunt in presence of anomalous pulmonary venous connection; modified Bi-directional Glenn shunt

Indian Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, 2006
Bi-directional Glenn shunt is a common procedure in a patient with functional single ventricle on the way to Fontan completion. The procedure becomes challenging when there is an associated anomalous pulmonary venous connection to the superior vena cava.

Novel techniques of bidirectional Glenn shunt without cardiopulmonary bypass

The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1999
We report novel techniques of performing bidirectional Glenn shunt (BDG) without cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB).Five cases of single ventricle and pulmonary stenosis (PS) complex were taken up for BDG without CPB. The criteria for case selection were an unrestrictive atrial septal defect (ASD), no atrioventricular (AV) valve regurgitation, and no other ...

Glenn Shunt Facilitated Weaning of Right Ventricular Mechanical Support

The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 2009
Management of biventricular mechanical circulatory support patients can be complex and can require different systems for support of the right and left ventricles. We describe the use of a Glenn shunt to facilitate weaning from a right ventricular assist device in a patient with idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy on biventricular mechanical circulatory ...

Use of Aortic Homograft Conduit in Bidirectional Glenn Shunt

Heart, Lung and Circulation, 2007
We present our experience with a patient in whom a homograft conduit was used to connect the superior vena cava (SVC) to the right pulmonary artery (RPA) in a functionally univentricular heart where corrective repair was impossible.

Factors Influencing Survival in Patients after Bidirectional Glenn Shunt

Asian Cardiovascular and Thoracic Annals, 2008
Clinical characteristics, echocardiographic values, and catheterization data of 45 patients with a functional univentricular heart who had a bidirectional Glenn shunt instituted between November 1994 and October 2006 were retrospectively reviewed. Median age at operation was 20 months (range, 9 months to 19 years).

Amplatzer vascular plug closure of a Blalock–Taussig shunt through a Glenn shunt

Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, 2008
AbstractWe describe an unusual route and uncommon device use for the percutaneous closure of a modified Blalock–Taussig (BT) shunt. A 4‐year‐old male had presented with severe upper body swelling after a bidirectional Glenn shunt done one month earlier. The BT shunt which was clipped during the surgery was found to be patent.
