Anatomic biventricular correction by taking down bicaval Glenn shunt

The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 2000
A 7-year-old boy underwent ventricular and atrial septal defect patch closures, pulmonary valvulotomy, left pulmonary artery dilatation, and bicaval Glenn shunt, which maintained good patency between the superior vena cava and right atrium, because of a reduced right ventricular end-diastolic volume (RVEDV).

Off-Pump Bidirectional Glenn Shunt in a Patient With Abdominal Aortic Thrombosis: Anesthesia and Perioperative Echocardiographic Perspective.

Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia, 2020
PATIENTS WITH A complex congenital cardiac condition are prone to develop polycythemia and vascular thrombosis due to long-standing cyanosis. Development of aortic thrombosis in the presence of deep cyanosis is one such vascular complication, which ...

Bidirectional Glenn Shunt in an Infant with Prune-Belly Syndrome

The Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeon, 2001
The prune-belly syndrome (PBS) usually is described as a deficiency of the anterior abdominal muscle involving bilateral cryptorchidism and urinary tract malformations. In this report, we will present an eleven-month-old boy with PBS associated with a complex cardiac anomaly.

Stage II Norwood Procedure: Bidirectional Glenn Shunt

2018
The Glenn bidirectional shunt naturally also belongs to the Stage II Norwood procedure. It is an intermediate operation in the path to the final total cavopulmonary connection Fontan surgery. In the classic Glenn shunt, the divided superior vena cava is end-to-end anastomosed to the divided right pulmonary artery, with superior vena caval blood flow ...

Bidirectional Glenn procedure for an infected modified Blalock–Taussig shunt

General Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, 2012
A 1-month-old girl underwent right modified Blalock-Taussig shunt (mBTS) for pulmonary atresia with hypoplastic right ventricle. Five months after palliation, she suffered from sepsis and progressive desaturation following otitis media. Computed tomography and angiography revealed a pseudoaneurysm surrounding the mBTS graft.

[Bidirectional Glenn shunt without cardiopulmonary bypass].

Kyobu geka. The Japanese journal of thoracic surgery, 2006
From April 2002 to March 2005, 18 patients having undergone bidirectional Glenn shunt (BDG) without cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) [off-pump BDG] were retrospectively reviewed. During BDG anastomosis, a temporary bypass was established between superior vena cava (15) or innominate vein (3) and main pulmonary artery (16) or right atrium (2).

Bidirectional Glenn Shunt: Stage I Palliative Surgery

2018
Based on the animal experimental study performed by Haller, Dogliotti et al. had made improvements on classical Glenn surgery, including transection of the superior vena cava, closure of its atrial end, and end-to-side anastomosis of its distal end to the right pulmonary artery.

Clinical Application of Bidirectional Glenn Shunt with Off-Pump Technique

Asian Cardiovascular and Thoracic Annals, 2004
A study was conducted to evaluate the outcomes of the bidirectional Glenn shunt technique performed off-pump. Between April 1999 and April 2001, 36 patients underwent bidirectional Glenn shunt, unilateral in 28 patients and bilateral in 8 patients, without using cardiopulmonary bypass.

Bidirectional Glenn Shunt for Complex Cyanotic Congenital Heart Disease

Asian Cardiovascular and Thoracic Annals, 1995
The bidirectional Glenn Shunt has been advocated for definitive or staged palliation of patients with a functional single ventricle and decreased pulmonary blood flow who are unsuitable for a Fontan operation. Between April 1990 and July 1994, 86 patients underwent bidirectional Glenn operation at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New ...
