Morphometric Analysis of Scapular Glenoid Cavity to Determine Sexual Dimorphism

2021
The scapula is a triangular bone with thick edges and a thin centre. It articulates with the humerus at the glenohumeral joint (shoulder joint) and with the clavicle at the acromioclavicular joint on the posterolateral part of the thoracic wall. The scapula is a triangular bone with thick edges and a thin centre.

[The form and size of the glenoid cavity].

Anatomischer Anzeiger, 1991
Measurements on 319 macerated scapulae showed a size of the surface of the glenoid cavity between 3.5 and 9.7 cm2. We tried also to evaluate the size of this surface in living humans. This is principally possible, but in 10% of all scapulae there is an error range of more than +/- 1 cm2.

Morphological Analysis of Glenoid Cavity of Scapula in Bihar Population

International Journal of Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance
Background: The glenoid cavity of the scapula forms the socket component of the shoulder joint and is a critical anatomical structure for maintaining shoulder stability and function. Variations in its shape, size, and orientation are of immense clinical importance, particularly in shoulder dislocation, arthroplasty, and rotator cuff injuries.

Morphometric Study of Shape of Glenoid cavity of Scapulae

The Journal of Sylhet Women’s Medical College
Background: The glenoid cavity of the scapula is crucial for shoulder joint stability, forming the articulation with the humeral head. Variations in its shape and size can influence joint mechanics, affecting shoulder stability and the risk of injuries like dislocations.
