A morphometric study of glenoid cavity and its implication in shoulder arthroplasty and prosthetic designs

open access: yesNational Journal of Clinical Anatomy, 2018
Background and aims: Glenoid cavity of scapula is known for its variable morphology. The variations in the shape of glenoid cavity are due to the presence of a notch in its antero-superior part.

A statistical shape model to predict the premorbid glenoid cavity [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, 2018
This study proposes a method for inferring the premorbid glenoid shape and orientation of scapulae affected by glenohumeral osteoarthritis (OA) to inform restorative surgery.A statistical shape model (SSM) built from 64 healthy scapulae was used to reconstruct the premorbid glenoid shape based on anatomic features that are considered unaffected by OA ...

Body Builder’s Shoulder: Posterior Labrum Periosteal Sleeve Avulsion (POLPSA) and Glenoid Posterior Rim Stress Fracture due to Intense Bench Pressing

open access: yesCase Reports in Orthopedics, 2022
Background. Shoulder overuse, both occupational and sports-related, is a major cause of shoulder pain with an estimated incidence of 0.9%-2.5% in the general population and a prevalence of 7%-27% in Europe and United States.

Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis of Locked Posterior Dislocation of the Shoulder Treated with Shoulder Arthroplasty: Improved Outcomes for Total Shoulder Arthroplasty are Associated with Increased Age

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, 2023
Locked shoulder dislocations account for up to 5% of shoulder dislocations. These relatively rare injuries are characterized by dislocation of the humeral head from the scapular glenoid cavity with the humeral head incarcerated on the glenoid in a ...

Surgical treatment of displaced fractures of the glenoid cavity [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Orthopaedics, 2002
Between 1994 and 1999 ten patients with displaced glenoid cavity fractures were treated operatively. Nine of the fractures were the result of road traffic accidents. There were eight men and two women patients, their average age was 38 (range 22-54) years, and the follow-up ranged from 18 to 84 months.

A Morphological and Morphometric Study of Glenoid Fossa of Scapula and its Implication in Shoulder Arthroplasty

open access: yesInternational Journal of Anatomy Radiology and Surgery, 2019
Introduction: Glenoid fossa of scapula articulates with the head of humerus and forms gleno-humeral joint (shoulder Joint). So, the knowledge of various shapes and size of glenoid fossa is useful to clinician for better understanding of various diseases ...

A Study on the Morphology of the Suprascapular Notch and Its Distance from the Glenoid Cavity [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2013
Introduction: A suprascapular nerve entrapment can occur at the suprascapular notch or at the spinoglenoid notch. So, the size and shape of the suprascapular notch are associated with suprascapular entrapment neuropathy as well as with an injury to ...
