A general maximum likelihood algorithm, called the delta algorithm, which generalizes Fisher's scoring method and several other existing algorithms, is introduced. The algorithm is derived as a modification of the Newton-Raphson algorithm, and may be interpreted as an iterative weighted least squares method.

Abstract This chapter of the Modelling Guide is intended to give a set of more or less complete analyses covering a range of practical problems for which GLIM is useful. The examples are also intended to convey how the various facilities of GLIM, especially the high-resolution graphics, may be used with practical problems, and to provide

Approximating point process likelihoods with GLIM.
Insurance: Mathematics and Economics, 1992Summary: This paper shows how approximate maximum likelihood estimation for fairly general point processes on the line can be performed with GLIM. The approximation is based on a weighted sum approximation to an integral in the likelihood. Various weighting schemes are briefly examined.

Laser scanning GLIM (LS-GLIM) for label-free imaging of turbid samples
Quantitative Phase Imaging VII, 2021We propose a multimodal imaging system, LS-GLIM, consisting of the light scanning microscope (LSM 900, Zeiss) and the gradient light interference microscope (GLIM) module [1], with photomultiplier tube (PMT) detection. GLIM upgrades a differential interference microscope with a liquid crystal variable retarder (LCVR), which introduces further ...
