A new species of Amphitecna (Bignoniaceae) endemic to the mountain karst forests of southern Mexico

Amphitecna brevicalyx (Bignoniaceae), a new tree species endemic to Mexico is described and illustrated. Its cauliflorous inflorescences, featuring a single flower per shoot and funnelform corollas without a transverse fold in the throat, place it within the Amphitecna macrophylla group.

Psychotria caraballoensis (Rubiaceae), a new species from northern Luzon, Philippines

In this paper, we describe and illustrate Psychotria caraballoensis, a new endemic species from the Caraballo Mountain Range, Luzon, Philippines. It is allied to the Subalpina species group sensu Sohmer and Davis (2007), and resembles Psychotria sohotonensis.

Disarming the Hsp70–Bim Alliance: Small‐Molecule and Peptidic Disruptors of a Chaperone‐Apoptotic Switch in Cancer

Targeting a nucleotide‐sensitive groove on Hsp70 that binds the Bim BH3 helix, we integrate structures, biophysics, and SAR from peptides, fragments, and phenalene‐dicarbonitrile “wedges.” These disrupt the Hsp70–Bim complex with sub‐µM cellular engagement and in vivo activity while sparing Hsp90/mortalin.

ABSTRACT Introduction Neonates undergoing cardiac surgery face a high risk of neurological injury and neurodevelopmental complications. Transcranial Doppler monitoring is used and validated in adults to measure cerebral blood flow and can provide valuable insights into cerebral perfusion in neonates.
