Global Existence Results for Viscoplasticity at Finite Strain
, 2016We study a model for rate-dependent gradient plasticity at finite strain based on the multiplicative decomposition of the strain tensor, and investigate the existence of global-in-time solutions to the related PDE system.

Abstract In Chapter 31, we prove future global existence in the case that the initial data are specified on the 3-torus, and assuming the initial data are close to those of de Sitter space. The proof is a bootstrap argument, one important ingredient being a system of differential inequalities.

Global existence and global non-existence of solutions to a reaction-diffusion system
Nonlinear Analysis: Theory, Methods & Applications, 2000Let \(\Omega\) be a bounded domain in \(\mathbb{R}^n\) with \(C^2\) boundary \(\partial\Omega\). By a classification of the nonnegative real numbers, \(p_i\) and \(q_i\), \(i= 1,2\), several criteria for global existence and non-existence of positive solutions are given for the weakly coupled reaction-diffusion system \[ u_t= \Delta u+ u^{p_1} v^{q_1 ...

On the existence of global first integrals in the plane
Annali di Matematica Pura ed Applicata, 1993The authors are concerned with the existence of global, smooth first integrals of noncritical, autonomous first order systems of ordinary differential equation in the plane of such kind: (1) \(x'= f(x)\), \(x\in R^ 2\), \(f\in C^ k(R^ 2,R^ 2)\), \(1\leq k\leq \omega\).

Global Existence and Analyticity for the 2D Kuramoto–Sivashinsky Equation
, 2017There is little analytical theory for the behavior of solutions of the Kuramoto–Sivashinsky equation in two spatial dimensions over long times. We study the case in which the spatial domain is a two-dimensional torus.

Abstract This chapter contains a complete proof of the existence of global-in-time variational solutions for the full system of the Navier-Stokes equations of a viscous compressible and heat conducting fluid under suitable restrictions imposed on the constitutive laws.

Actually Existing Globalization
2000There are two great, world-encompassing changes associated with the last quarter of the twentieth century: the rapid integration of the global economy and the unprecedented decline in the economic role of the state in most countries. The first of these, usually referred to as ‘globalization’, represents not a new direction but an acceleration of the ...
