The critical case for a semilinear weakly hyperbolic equation

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2004
We prove a global existence result for the Cauchy problem, in the three-dimensional space, associated with the equation $$ u_{tt}-a_lambda(t) Delta_x u=-u|u|^{p(lambda)-1} $$ where $a_lambda(t)ge 0$ and behaves as $(t-t_0)^lambda$ close to some $t_0 ...

Global existence for the Seiberg–Witten flow [PDF]

open access: yesCommunications in Analysis and Geometry, 2010
We introduce the gradient flow of the Seiberg-Witten functional on a compact, orientable Riemannian 4-manifold and show the global existence of a unique smooth solution to the flow. The flow converges uniquely in $C^\infty$ up to gauge to a critical point of the Seiberg-Witten functional.

The Second Critical Exponent for a Time-Fractional Reaction-Diffusion Equation

open access: yesMathematics
In this paper, we consider the Cauchy problem of a time-fractional nonlinear diffusion equation. According to Kaplan’s first eigenvalue method, we first prove the blow-up of the solutions in finite time under some sufficient conditions.

Global Existence for an Isotropic Landau Model

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis
Abstract Following the recent ideas of Guillen and Silvestre, we prove that the Fisher information is non-increasing along the flow of the isotropic Landau equation. We then use this fact to deduce global existence for the equation ∂tf = (−∆)−1f · ∆f + f2 under a relatively lax set of conditions on the initial data. In particular, we remove the

A note on the global existence and boundedness of an N-dimensional parabolic-elliptic predator-prey system with indirect pursuit-evasion interaction

open access: yesOpen Mathematics
We investigate the two-species chemotaxis predator-prey system given by the following system: ut=Δu−χ∇⋅(u∇w)+u(λ1−μ1ur1−1+av),x∈Ω,t>0,vt=Δv+ξ∇⋅(v∇z)+v(λ2−μ2vr2−1−bu),x∈Ω,t>0,0=Δw−w+v,x∈Ω,t>0,0=Δz−z+u,x∈Ω,t>0,\left\{\begin{array}{ll}{u}_{t}=\Delta u-\chi \

Results from a Nonlinear Wave Equation with Acoustic and Fractional Boundary Conditions Coupling by Logarithmic Source and Delay Terms: Global Existence and Asymptotic Behavior of Solutions

open access: yesMathematics
The nonlinear wave equation with acoustic and fractional boundary conditions, coupled with logarithmic source and delay terms, is significant for its ability to model complex systems, its contribution to the advancement of mathematical theory, and its ...

On Global Well-Posedness and Temporal Decay for 3D Magnetic Induction Equations with Hall Effect

open access: yesMathematics, 2020
The main purpose of this paper is to study the global existence and uniqueness of solutions for three-dimensional incompressible magnetic induction equations with Hall effect provided that ∥u0∥H32+ε+∥b0∥H2 ...

The Global Existence Problem in General Relativity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We survey some known facts and open questions concerning the global properties of 3+1 dimensional spacetimes containing a compact Cauchy surface. We consider spacetimes with an $\ell$-dimensional Lie algebra of space-like Killing fields. For each $\ell \leq 3$, we give some basic results and conjectures on global existence and cosmic censorship.

On the global existence of solutions to the Prandtl's system

open access: yesAdvances in Mathematics, 2004
This paper is concerned with the global existence of weak solutions to the initial boundary value problem involving a two-dimensional Prandtl's system, for unsteady boundary layer with initial data, and the pressure gradient satisfying certain conditions.
