Evaluation of recent Global Geopotential Models over South Africa

open access: yesSouth African Journal of Geomatics
This study evaluates the performance of three recent global geopotential models (GGMs) — WHU-SWPU-GOGR2022S, GOSG02S, and Tongji-GMMG2021S — over South Africa by comparing both height anomalies and free-air gravity anomalies derived from these models to data from 141 GPS/levelling points and 105,408 gravity data stations, respectively.

Evaluation of recent global geopotential models based on GPS/levelling data over Afyonkarahisar (Turkey) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This study presents the evaluation of the global geo-potential models EGM96, EIGEN-5C, EGM2008(360) and EGM2008 by comparing model based on geoid heights to the GPS/levelling based on geoid heights over Afyonkarahisar study area in order to find the ...

Geoid modeling based on global geopotential models and digital terrain models

open access: yes
This paper presents a methodology for high-resolution, centimeter-accuracy geoid modeling in local areas using only publicly available data, eliminating the need for terrestrial gravity measurements. The approach synthesizes long- and short-wavelength components of the height anomaly, along with ellipsoidal correction, to efficiently determine geoid ...

Accuracy assessment of high and ultra high-resolution combined GGMs, and recent satellite-only GGMs – Case studies of Poland and Ethiopia

open access: yesReports on Geodesy and Geoinformatics
The launch of dedicated satellite gravity missions (CHAMP, GRACE, GOCE, and GRACE–FO), as well as the availability of gravity data from satellite altimetry and terrestrial/airborne gravity measurements have led to a growing number of Global Geopotential ...

Numerical analyzing of high-degree legendre functions for global geopotential models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Yeryuvarının gravite alanının belirlenmesi ve modellenmesi, fiziksel jeodezinin temel konularının başında yer alır. Jeodezik gözlemleri doğrudan etkileyen ve yeryuvarının şeklini belirleyen gravite alanı, çekim ve merkezkaç kuvvetlerinin bileşkesiyle ...

Evaluation of upper tropospheric geopotential height anomalies over the tropical and subtropical oceans in CMIP6 models using GNSS radio occultation observations

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Communications
We investigate the influence of hydrometeor radiative effects on the winter (DJF) geopotential height anomaly (ZA) over the subtropical and tropical Pacific Oceans in both the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project phase 5 (CMIP5) and phase 6 (CMIP6 ...

Localized General Vertical Coordinates for Quasi‐Eulerian Ocean Models: The Nordic Overflows Test‐Case

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems
A generalized methodology to deploy different types of vertical coordinate system in arbitrarily defined time‐invariant local areas of quasi‐Eulerian numerical ocean models is presented.

Rising geopotential height under global warming [PDF]

open access: yes
Geopotential height (H) is a widely used metric for atmospheric circulation. H has been reported to rise under global warming, but the amplitude and mechanism of this rise are not clear.
