Tertiary‐Ozone‐Maximum‐Like Mesospheric Ozone Increases Driven by Solar Eclipses: Sensitivity Experiments on WACCM‐X

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, Volume 131, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Solar eclipses offer natural experiments to isolate the photochemical response of mesospheric ozone to solar radiation. Using the WACCM‐X model, we performed mechanism‐oriented sensitivity experiments for the 14 December 2020 eclipse to quantify the tertiary‐ozone‐maximum‐like (TOM‐like) response.

Transient Ecological Niches for Diazotrophs in Upwelling Bays

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, Volume 131, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Diazotrophs, microorganisms capable of fertilizing the ocean through biological nitrogen fixation (BNF), are widespread in the oceans, including upwelling bays. However, their ability to respond to short‐lived upwelling pulses, lasting only a few days, remains poorly understood. To investigate diazotrophy across temporal scales, we analyzed 18

A Next‐Generation Snow Albedo Parameterization for Climate Modeling Using Constrained Machine Learning

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Machine Learning and Computation, Volume 3, Issue 4, August 2026.
Abstract We demonstrate a data‐driven parameterization framework for snow albedo evolution using a constrained auto‐regressive neural differential equation that directly predicts snow albedo change from standard meteorological inputs. After training with multi‐year in situ and satellite observations from a wide variety of locations, the scheme ...

Long‐Term Local Control and Mortality After Transpupillary Thermotherapy of Small Uveal Melanomas

open access: yesClinical &Experimental Ophthalmology, Volume 54, Issue 6, Page 832-844, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Transpupillary thermotherapy (TTT) is used for selected small choroidal melanocytic tumours, either as primary treatment or as an adjunct to plaque brachytherapy. We compared long‐term local recurrence and mortality outcomes after primary TTT alone, plaque brachytherapy combined with TTT (brachy+TTT), and plaque brachytherapy alone (

From research to conservation: Site selection for habitat restoration of a narrowly distributed and critically endangered butterfly

open access: yesConservation Science and Practice, Volume 8, Issue 8, August 2026.
This study focuses on the conservation of a rare butterfly in northwestern Italy threatened by woody encroachment. Using field data, topography, and remote sensing, we modelled habitat suitability and connectivity. A 0.6‐ha site was selected for restoration, illustrating how predictive models can guide targeted conservation actions.

Effect of Powder Type on Slurries for Additive Manufacturing of Sodium Potassium Niobate Piezoceramics

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Ceramic Technology, Volume 23, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Due to its enhanced design flexibility, additive manufacturing (AM) is a game‐changing technology for piezoelectric ceramics. Still, to achieve a high‐quality ceramic by AM, slurry preparation is critical. Piezoceramics based on potassium sodium niobate [(K, Na)NbO3] (KNN) are challenging to densify and therefore require extra care during ...
