Global view of complicated dynamics in optically injected semiconductor lasers
SPIE Proceedings, 2000We use advanced techniques from bifurcation theory to examine the dynamics of single-mode semiconductor lasers with optical injection, modeled by three-dimensional rate equations. Key bifurcations, namely saddle-node, Hopf, period-doubling, saddle-node of limit cycle and torus bifurcations, are followed over a wide range of injection strengths and ...

Global bifurcations in a laser with injected signal: Beyond Adler’s approximation
Chaos: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Nonlinear Science, 2001We discuss the dynamics in the laser with an injected signal from a perturbative point of view showing how different aspects of the dynamics get their definitive character at different orders in the perturbation scheme. At the lowest order Adler’s equation [Proc. IRE 34, 351 (1946)] is recovered.

Review of BP's Global Gas Injection Projects
Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference, 2014Abstract Miscible gas flooding is an established method for enhancing oil recovery that can be successfully deployed in secondary or tertiary mode. BP has developed a range of innovative techniques to maximize economic oil recovery from its miscible gas floods.

Global Injectivity and Topological Constraints for Spatial Nonlinearly Elastic Rods
Journal of Nonlinear Science, 2002This article deals with global injectivity of looped thin elastic rods in a closure of an open set in \(\mathbb R^3\), under topological constraints of a knot type. As the shape of elastic rod is determined by a minimal state of energy, the author shows the existence of an energy-minimizing equilibrium state without self-penetration, which may also be ...
