Experimental implementation of an electronic load for global maximum power point tracking

2016 IEEE 2nd Annual Southern Power Electronics Conference (SPEC), 2016
This work deals with the partial shading effect in the power curve of a PV solar array. Using a semiconductor device — MOSFET or IGBT — as electronic load added to a buck converter, it is possible to scan the power curve of a photovoltaic string and therefore empirically determine its optimum voltage, even in presence of partial shading.

A High Speed Global Maximum Power Point Tracking Algorithm for PV Systems

2016
Partial shading is one of the unfavourable conditions for photovoltaic modules since available power of them decreases. Besides that, maximum power point tracking becomes difficult in that kind of condition. Multiple maximum power points occur on the voltage - power curve of photovoltaic modules, if modules have bypass diodes.

Global Maximum Power Point Tracking Algorithm for Solar Power System

2019
The P-U curve of the PV (photovoltaic) system has multi-peak characteristics under non-uniform irradiance conditions (NUIC). The conventional MPPT algorithm can only track the local maximum power points, therefore, PV system fails to work at the global optimum, causing serious energy loss.

Conventional and global maximum power point tracking techniques in photovoltaic applications: A review

Journal of Renewable and Sustainable Energy, 2013
Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) is a technique employed to extract maximum power available from a photovoltaic (PV) module under varying atmospheric conditions. It traces the PV operating voltage corresponding to the maximum power point (MPP) and operates the panel at MPP. However, if a PV array is partially shaded, the conventional MPPT techniques

Dynamic global maximum power point tracking of the PV systems under variant partial shading using hybrid GWO-FLC

Solar Energy, 2019
Maximum power point tracker (MPPT) techniques have been used to extract the maximum power available form photovoltaic (PV) energy systems. Conventional MPPT techniques like perturb and observe (PO one global maximum power point (GMPP) and many local ...

Dynamic Global Maximum Power Point Tracking for Partially Shaded PV Arrays in Grid-Connected PV Systems

IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Industrial Electronics
Global maximum power point tracking (GMPPT) algorithms can extract the maximum available power from photovoltaic (PV) arrays even under partial shading conditions (PSCs). The existing GMPPT algorithms originate from computationally-intensive optimization

A review of global maximum power point tracking techniques of photovoltaic system under partial shading conditions

Renewable & Sustainable Energy Reviews, 2018
Maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control techniques play a vital role in efficiency improvement of photovoltaic (PV) systems. It is mainly used to extract maximum possible power of the PV modules under both variable climatic and partial shaded ...

An Analog Global Maximum Power Point Tracking for photovoltaic systems: Application to nanospacecrafts

2017 19th European Conference on Power Electronics and Applications (EPE'17 ECCE Europe), 2017
In this work, an Analog Global Maximum Power Point Tracker (A-GMPPT) is introduced and discussed. The underlying idea of this A-GMPPT is the peak power tracking using a capacitive load, in particular the filter input capacitance of the DC/DC converter.

A Novel Global Maximum Power Point Tracking Technique based on Shading Detection for Photovoltaic Strings

2020 International SoC Design Conference (ISOCC), 2020
Multiple peaks in power-voltage (P-V) characteristics of photovoltaic (PV) strings under partial shading conditions (PSC) bring challenges to maximum power point tracking (MPPT) techniques for reaching the global maximum power point (GMPP). Early studies have revealed that the locus of the GMPP can be predicted from the shading information, which is ...

A global maximum power point tracking method for PV module integrated converters

2012 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE), 2012
This paper proposes a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) method to seek the global maximum power point (MPP) in photovoltaic (PV) modules. The method infers partial shading—and hence the possibility of multiple maxima—by monitoring bypass-diode voltages and initiates a global search routine only if a bypass diode turns on.
