New High‐Tc Charge‐Transfer Multiferroicity in the Quasi‐2D Antiferromagnet CrSbS3

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Low‐dimensional magnets, particularly 2D systems, offer a rich platform for realizing unconventional multiferroic mechanisms, especially when multiple polarization channels coexist. In the quasi‐2D antiferromagnet CrSbS3, which crystallizes in the centrosymmetric orthorhombic space group Pnma and orders magnetically at TN ≈ 90 K, two ...

BIN1 and ALDH1B1 Deficiency in Colonic Smooth Muscle Drives Mitochondrial Dysfunction and Fibrosis in Slow‐Transit Constipation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Slow‐transit constipation (STC) is a disabling motility disorder with unclear smooth‐muscle mechanisms. Spatial proteomic analysis of STC patient colon reveals both the central pathogenic role of smooth muscle cells (SMCs) in STC and novel regulators of intestinal motility, BIN1 and ALDH1B1.

Diagnosing Nonlocal Vertical Acceleration in Moist Convection Using a Large‐Eddy Simulation

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems
The anelastic theory of effective buoyancy has been generalized to include effects of momentum flux convergence, and has suggested that the dynamics—mediated by the nonlocal perturbation pressure—tends to average over forcing details, yielding vertical ...

Estimating nearshore infragravity wave conditions at large spatial scales

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
Infragravity waves may contribute significantly to coastal flooding, especially during storm conditions. However, in many national and continental to global assessments of coastal flood risk, their contribution is not accounted for, mostly because of the

Magnetoelectric Nanoparticle‐Based Wireless Brain–Computer Interface: Underlying Physics and Projected Technology Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Magnetoelectric nanoparticles (MENPs) enable fully wireless, minutely invasive neuromodulation, and potentially neural recording, by converting magnetic into electric and, conversely, electric into magnetic fields, respectively, at high spatiotemporal resolution.

How Convective Mass Flux Responds to Environmental Humidity

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems
Our goal in this study is to characterize the relationship between lower tropospheric environmental humidity and convective mass flux in the tropics. To do so, we have created gridded convective mass flux data sets from five global storm‐resolving models

Temporal Interference Stimulation Enhances Neural Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Temporal interference (TI) stimulation is proposed as a non‐invasive approach to enhance neural regeneration in the deep brain. Theta‐band TI modulation selectively promotes neural progenitor cell differentiation in vitro and augments hippocampal neurogenesis in amouse model of Alzheimer's disease‐like amyloidosis.

Toward Flash Flood Modeling Using Gradient Resolving Representative Hillslopes

open access: yesWater Resources Research
It is increasingly acknowledged that the acceleration of the global water cycle, largely driven by anthropogenic climate change, has a disproportionate impact on sub‐daily and small‐scale hydrological extreme events such as flash floods.

Engineering Microbial Particles for Next‐Generation Biomedical Platforms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Microbe‐derived particles (MDPs), which include extracellular vesicles, outer membrane vesicles, inclusion bodies, polysaccharide particles, and virus‐like particles, represent a rapidly expanding category of bioinspired nanomaterials. With their natural origin, intrinsic biocompatibility, and highly programmable functionality, MDPs serve as a ...

DNA Nanoarray for Multiplexed RNA Detection With Single‐Molecule Readout

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A carrier‐based DNA nanoarray integrates programmable nucleic acid hybridization with solid‐state nanopore readout for direct RNA detection at single‐molecule resolution. A ternary encoding system enables 27 carriers with 81 addressable sensing sites, allowing the simultaneous identification of targets spanning a wide size range, from short microRNAs ...
