Fermionic Molecular Dynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
A quantum molecular model for fermions is investigated which works with antisymmetrized many-body states composed of localized single-particle wave packets.

Elucidating the Role of Surface Ligands on the Oxidative Etching of Au Bipyramids During Photothermia Using Liquid Cell Transmission Electron Microscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Gold bipyramids can act as efficient plasmonic nanoheaters, but they often reshape during laser heating. This study shows that oxygen nanobubbles drive oxidative etching and that surface ligands control stability. CTAB‐ and citrate‐coated particles blunt and lose optical performance, whereas polystyrene sulfonate preserves shape and heating by ...

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

Sub-Kelvin Lateral Thermal Transport in Diffusive Graphene

open access: yes, 2019
In this work, we report on hot carrier diffusion in graphene across large enough length scales that the carriers are not thermalized across the crystal.

Chromatic‐Invariant Photothermal Fabrics Enabled by Narrow‐Bandgap Organic Semiconductors for Wearable Solar Energy Harvesting

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A chromatic‐invariant photothermal fabric is fabricated for outdoor activewear, realizing 4°C–8°C heating within 5 min under 1000 W m−2 illumination via NIR absorption, retaining high visible‐light reflectivity and original fabric functions, and achieving >95.3% sterilization in 20 min.

Temperature field forecast in concrete dam with the use of ARIMA models and the finite element method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This article describes a forecasting method, with the application of statistical models Auto-Regressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) and a heat conduction model to forecast the temperature field in a buttress block of Itaipu dam. Monthly temperature

Valid garnet-biotite thermometer: A comparative study

open access: yesJournal of Nepal Geological Society, 2019
The abundance of garnet-biotite pair in a wide range of rocks mainly from upper green schist to granulite facies has made it one of the most widely used pairs for estimation of temperature at which once rocks equilibrated. In last four decades, more than

Deployable 3D‐Printed Vascular Stent with Surface‐Catalysed Endogenous Nitric Oxide Generation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A deployable 3D‐printed vascular stent was fabricated with surface‐catalyzed endogenous nitric oxide generation, representing a promising new direction for stent development. The stent can be remotely controlled by magnetic force in its compressed state and fully deployed at the target site using an untethered heat source, potentially eliminating the ...

Entanglement Enhanced Thermometry in the Detection of the Unruh Effect

open access: yes, 2017
We show how the use of entanglement can enhance the precision of the detection of the Unruh effect with an accelerated probe. We use the Unruh-DeWitt model of a two-level atom interacting relativistically with a quantum field and treat the atom as an ...

Thermometry of bosonic mixtures in Optical Lattices via Demixing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Motivated by recent experiments and theoretical investigations on binary mixtures, we investigate the miscible-immiscible transition at finite temperature by means of Quantum Monte Carlo.
