Vacuumless topological defects in Lyra geometry [PDF]
Few years ago, Cho and Vilenkin have proposed that topological defects can arise in symmetry breaking models without having degenerate vacua. These types of defects are known as vacuumless defects. In the present work, the gravitational field of a vacuumless global string and global monopole have been investigated in the context of Lyra geometry.

Globalization in Question: Hierarchies, States and Gender. NCRE Online Paper No. 01/03 [PDF]
[From the Introduction] Globalization is the pervasive buzzword of the day as we enter the new millennium. From the BBC's Reith lecturers to first-year undergraduates at Bradford University, almost everybody on the ground has a pretty shrewd idea of what

The effects of globalization on Ecological Footprints: an empirical analysis
Whether globalization is sustainable is a contested issue. The quantitative literature on the Maastricht Globalization Index (MGI) and the KOF index of globalization shows that globalization contributes positively to economic and human development ...

Hunger and Obesity as Symptoms of Non-Sustainable Food Systems and Malnutrition
Among the great challenges the world faces are how to ensure food security for its growing population—projected to rise to around 10 billion by 2050—so it can meet their nutritional needs for a healthy life.

Globally subanalytic arc-symmetric sets [PDF]
We show that a globally subanalytic set can be realized as the image of a semianalytic set by a finite composite of global blowings-up. As an application, we prove that a globally subanalytic arc-symmetric set of pure dimension is the image under such a composite of a real analytic manifold of the same dimension, and derive basic geometric properties ...

The gravitational field of a global monopole [PDF]
We present an exact solution to the non-linear equation which describes a global monopole in the flat space. We re-examine the metric and the geodesics outside the global monopole. We will see that a global monopole produces a repulsive gravitational field outside the core in addition to a solid angular deficit.

The Impact of Globalization on CO2 Emissions in China
This paper examines the Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) hypothesis for China in the presence of globalization. We have applied Bayer and Hanck combined cointegration test as well as the ARDL bounds testing approach to cointegration by accommodating ...

Globalization, oh that versitile villian! [PDF]
The contemporary phase of economic globalization is regarded by some social scientists as a serious source of problems. There are others who, logically or illogically, consider it a negative, harmful, destructive, marginalizing and malevolent influence ...

Globalization, Party Positions, and the Median Voter [PDF]
The authors argue that the effects of economic globalization on social democratic parties in Western Europe are conditional on the position of the median voter.
