The Vortex State of Ultralight Dark Matter and the Fornax Timing Problem

open access: yesUniverse
We investigate the impact of the vortex state of ultralight dark matter (ULDM) on the dynamical friction acting on moving globular clusters. Comparing this force with that for the solitonic ground state, it is shown that the internal structure and ...

THE SEQUENTIAL STAR FORMATION IN GLOBULAR CLUSTERS

open access: yesOdessa Astronomical Publications, 2008
The results of [O/Na] abundance modelling in globular clusters NGC 2808 and NGC 6752 are presented. The evolutionary scenario allowing to reproduce characteristic observed features of [O/Na] distribution function has been suggested.

New Parameters for Star Cluster Dynamics: The Effect of Primordial Binaries and Dark Remnants

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
By studying the normalized cumulative radial distribution (nCRD) of the stars in the central region of a Monte Carlo-simulated globular cluster, we recently defined three parameters able to pinpoint the stage of internal dynamical evolution reached by ...

Extragalactic globular clusters. II - The M31 globular cluster system

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1991
Metallicities for 150 globular clusters associated with M31 are derived using the strengths of six absorption features in the cluster-integrated spectra. The properties of the M31 cluster system are very similar to those of the Galactic system. No dependence of metallicity on cluster luminosity is found.

Tidal stripping as a mechanism for placing globular clusters on wide orbits: the case of MGC1 in M31

open access: yes, 2019
The globular clusters of large spiral galaxies can be divided into two populations: one which formed in-situ and one which comprises clusters tidally stripped away from other galaxies.

Bulge Globular Clusters [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 2002
The properties of the globular clusters located within 20° × 20° of the Galactic Center are discussed. In particular their spatial distribution, metallicities and ages are presented and discussed in the context of different scenarios of bulge formation.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Contribution of Globular Clusters to Diffuse Gamma-Ray Emission from the Galactic Plane

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
The diffuse Galactic gamma-ray emission (DGE) provides a valuable probe for investigating the cosmic-ray propagation and interactions within our Galactic environment.

GLOBULAR CLUSTERS AS GRAVITATIONAL LENSES. OBSERVATIONAL TEST

open access: yesOdessa Astronomical Publications, 2017
Let us suppose that globular clusters in the halos of distant galaxies can act as a gravitational lenses. The observational test for this hypothesis is the overdensity of star-like images near foreground galaxies.

Star Cluster Candidates in M81

open access: yes, 2010
We present a catalog of extended objects in the vicinity of M81 based a set of 24 Hubble Space Telescope Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) Wide Field Camera (WFC) F814W (I-band) images. We have found 233 good globular cluster candidates; 92 candidate HII
