Abstract Two genotypes of groundnut, inoculated with Rhizobium, were grown with or without the mycorrhizal fungus Glomus clarum. Genotype TMV 2 responded much more to mycorrhizal infection than the genotype Robut 33-1. Control plants of R 33-1 were bigger than controls of TMV 2, but mycorrhizal TMV 2 plants were larger than those of R 33-1. Acetylene

Failure to decontaminate Glomus clarum NT4 spores is due to spore wall-associated bacteria
Mycorrhiza, 1995Exposure of spores of Glomus clarum NT4 to solutions of chloramine-T (2.5–10% w/v) for 10–120 min failed to fully decontaminate all spores. Scanning electron microscopy did not show the presence of contaminants on treated spores, but transmission electron microscopy revealed bacterial cells embedded within the outer spore wall layer.

The nature of variation in morphological characters in spores of arbuscular endomycorrhizal fungi (Order Glomales, Class Zygomycetes) has received little attention, despite the importance of these characters in modern taxonomy of the order. We tested the hypothesis that genetic variation exists in spore size and color (presumably important taxonomic ...

Mycorrhizal and non-mycorrhizal tomato plants (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill. cv ‘Amalia’) were subjected to water stress by withholding irrigation water for 72 hours and then reirrigated for 120 hours. Water stress reduced root mycorrhizal colonization, although the presence of the fungus Glomus clarum stimulated tomato plant growth.

The dependency of four spring wheat cultivars (Triticum aestivum L.) Laura, Columbus, Neepawa and Katepwa on Glomus clarum NT4 in a P-deficient soil containing indigenous arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) was assessed in a growth chamber. The wheat cultivars were grown with or without 1.5 g of a monospecific culture of Glomus clarum NT4 for 95 d. The
