Characterization of an Amino Acid Permease from the Endomycorrhizal Fungus Glomus mosseae     [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 2008
Abstract Arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi are capable of exploiting organic nitrogen sources, but the molecular mechanisms that control such an uptake are still unknown. Polymerase chain reaction-based approaches, bioinformatic tools, and a heterologous expression system have been used to characterize a sequence coding for an amino acid

Biosynthesis and degradation of glycerides in external mycelium of Glomus mosseae

open access: yesMycorrhiza, 2001
The activities of enzymes involved in the glyceride metabolism of Glomus mosseae external mycelium are reported. Total mycelial homogenates were incubated with radiolabeled triolein and palmitic acid for various times under different conditions. The results obtained demonstrate the capacity of G.

Bioprotection against Gaeumannomyces graminis in barley a comparison between arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi

open access: yesPlant, Soil and Environment, 2012
Gaeumannomyces graminis var. tritici causes take-all disease, the most important root disease of cereal plants. Cereal plants are able to form a symbiotic association with soil-borne arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi which can provide bioprotection against ...

Cytoskeletal Components in theArbuscular Mycorrhizal FungusGlomus mosseae

open access: yesMolecular Plant-Microbe Interactions, 1994
In Glomus mosseae microtubules and microfilaments were visualized by indirect immunofluorescence microscopy in hyphae quick-frozen, freeze-substituted, and treated with cell-wall-degrading enzymes. Microtubules were distinguished in both the cortical and the central parts of hyphae, while microfilaments were revealed only in the cortical part.
