A glomus tumor is an uncommon, predominantly benign, neoplastic lesion that primarily involves a thermoregulatory microvascular apparatus, the glomus body. Although these lesions can occur anywhere in the body, the subungual tissue of the hand represents the most common presentation site. Glomus tumors are not often encountered in the foot.

We report a case of a glomus tumor in the trachea which was an incidental finding in a 66-year-old man. The histological picture and immunohistochemical profile were typical for this tumor. The glomus tumor is an exceedingly rare mass lesion in the trachea, but it is useful to keep it among differential diagnostic alternatives when a tracheal tumor is ...

Glomus tumors are rare vascular tumors that are found most commonly in the hand. Although the tumors are benign, they can cause intense focal pain. Patients often go undiagnosed or misdiagnosed for many years because the tumors are small, usually not palpable, and have varying presentations.

Solitary glomus tumor recurring as multiple glomus tumors
Skeletal Radiology, 2012Most glomus tumors arise as a single nodule. However, up to 10 % of glomus tumors may be multiple. We report a case in which a single glomus tumor of the leg that evolved several years after surgery to multiple glomus tumors requiring additional resections.

Percutaneous radiofrequency ablation of primary intraosseous spinal glomus tumor
The glomus tumor is a rare, benign, but painful vascular neoplasm arising from the neuromyoarterial glomus. Primary intraosseous glomus tumor is even rarer, with only about 20 cases reported in the literature so far, 5 of which involved the spine ...

We present a case of a multicentric chemodectoma, with the unusual combination of a glomus vagale and a glomus tympanicum tumor. Multicentricity was suspected before selective carotid arteriography. Our patient, although asymptomatic, had elevated levels of urinary catecholamines preoperatively, which returned to normal postoperatively, suggesting ...

Glomus tumors of the trachea are rare and benign, but most become symptomatic, so they need intervention. A 21-year-old man was evaluated due to cough and hemoptysis. Computed tomography and bronchoscopy showed a polypoid mass above the carina. The tumor was removed completely by rigid bronchoscopy. The pathologic diagnosis was glomus tumor.

TINNITUS is a common otologic complaint. It is difficult to decide which type of tinnitus should be more thoroughly evaluated. Unilateral tinnitus is a symptom that may indicate serious disease such as an acoustic neuroma. When the sound is pulsating, as well as unilateral, one must be suspicious of a glomus tumor.

REPORTS of glomus tumors have appeared in the literature with increasing frequency since this entity was described by Masson1in 1924. The vast majority of these cases reported have been concerned with small solitary tumors situated on an extremity which were characteristically extremely sensitive to slightest pressure.
