Understanding the Catalytic Determinant role of Diaphorase‐Like Subunit in Formate Dehydrogenases via Redox Couples

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A unique mechanism of catalytic bias regulated by diaphorase‐like subunit in formate dehydrogenase from Rhodobacter aestuarii is revealed. The diaphorase‐like subunit functions act as a biological “voltage rheostat” that controls the slow release of NADH to regulate redox balance, biasing the enzyme's catalytic preference toward CO2 reduction over ...

Efficient Direct Recycling of Spent Batteries: Integrated Lithiation and Delamination

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An integrated process for the delamination and relithiation of spent cathodes, LixNi0.6Co0.2Mn0.2O2 and LixFePO4, under open‐air conditions is proposed. The transition‐metal (Ni) oxidation state in the cathode is reduced by the oxidation of diethylene glycol, facilitating relithiation. Glycol aldehyde formation induces 100% electrode delamination.

Medical glove durability during exposure to different solvent agents: an ex-vivo experimental study

open access: yesPatient Safety in Surgery
Background Medical professionals are constantly exposed to bodily fluids and sanitizing agents during routine medical procedures. Unbeknownst to many healthcare workers, however, the barrier integrity of medical gloves can be altered when exposed to ...

Sodium Ascorbate‐Accelerated Gelling Hydrogels With Rapid Self‐Mineralized Capacity for Chronic Wounds

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An immunoregulatory hydrogel based on sodium ascorbate (SA)‐accelerated gelation and in situ self‐mineralization is prepared here. Such a hydrogel is constructed by mixing benzaldehyde‐ and cyanoacetate‐functionalized dextran with silver nitrate (AgNO3) and SA, enabling the ultrafast solidification and in situ self‐mineralization of silver ...

Intraoperative Anaphylactic Shock in a Child with No History of Type I Hypersensitivity

open access: yesIranian Journal of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, 2008
Natural rubber latex is the second most implicated agent in intraoperative anaphylactic reactions. This report describes a case of intraoperative anaphylaxis occurring in a non-atopic fourteen-year-old girl undergoing multiple surgical procedures, but ...
